[attr="class","axis-mainia"]Thank you all for your continued interest and patience! To kick off, we have some exciting news:
[break][break]
Our next update will be our
last informational post. It will cover information regarding our semi-private status, how we expect to welcome new members, and a preview of our site and related elements. The update after that will be our official opening![break][break]
Today, we're covering basic site systems and character options. Enter, Axis Mundi:
THE DEEP DIVE.

THE COMMUNITY
[break]
First and foremost, Axis Mundi is designed to be a site for passionate writers to come together in a safe, collaborative experience. As such, we’ll have an absolute
zero tolerance policy for bigotry, dramatics, or harassment. While we truly hope not to experience issues within the community, our staff team is dedicated to preserving good vibes.
[break][break]
While we want to encourage a relaxed atmosphere and de-emphasize PvP power plays, we also cherish highly developed characters and want to watch your interpersonal plots bloom. Our character limit will be capped at
four max at this time, with the first two being free. We’ll host loose monthly activity checks, where we’ll reconfirm activity and interest.

THE CHARACTER OPTIONS
[break]
MEMBER GROUPS. We host
five in total.[break]
- Three are free: Grimeians and Licyrans (those without special abilities who call their respective half of the city home) and the Augmented (Grimeian citizens who have permanently altered their body with technology.)[break]
- One is semi-restricted: Magic-touched – Licyrans with a godfavored ancestor who have been fortunate enough to inherit magic. This group is free to claim, but has limited slots that increase alongside the site’s character population.[break]
- One is fully locked: Godfavored – Licyrans who are fortunate enough to be recognized and blessed with immense power by a member of the divine pantheon. This member group is exceptionally rare and will be awarded by staff to characters who leave an immense mark on the tapestry of the site. (Note that this can be accomplished in a multitude of ways, including by slice-of-life characters heavily involved in their own interpersonal plots – event / site plot participation isn’t mandatory!)
Characters may change member group depending on their story arc. The only “sticky” (ie. permanent) member group is Augmented.[break][break][break]
ABILITIES & MAGIC.[break]
The
technology shop sells items and augments with set abilities. Custom augments and magic-touched abilities have rules on creation; members should expect to discuss with staff, suggest a
loose theme, and be presented with a few options for their ability.
[break][break][break]
ALTERNATE SPECIES.[break]
Axis Mundi has five species in total, including humans. Our four non-human species each have unique traits and special abilities. While these characters are often stronger than humans, they’re limited to the
Grimeian or
Licyran member groups, and cannot obtain augments, magic, or godfavor.

THE FACTIONS
[break]
We offer six
de-emphasized factions. We take “de-emphasized” to mean that factions are optional plotting tools, not the backbone of our site plot or engagement. They’re certainly not representative or indicative of all the types of characters we’ll be home to (ex. civilians, socialities, entertainment industry moguls, etc.!), and we don’t expect the majority of our characters to slot themselves into one.[break]
- The Imperium Council. The central form of political leadership in the citystate, made of five councilors. This faction is our only locked one – characters must purchase a “run for election” item from the general site store. Empty slots are assumed to be held by NPCs.
- Enforcers. The enforcers are Axia’s law enforcement organization, given jurisdiction to perform investigations and arrest/detain citizens. Smaller sectors are also responsible for fire and emergency response.
- The Altumaen College of the Arts. While based out of Licyra and aligned with the teachings of the goddess Altumae, the College is a force striving to represent a united citystate; scholarships are dedicated towards bright Grimeias. The College instructs in divine teachings, magic workings, politics, the arts, and simple sciences. Recently, some professors have begun to instruct in physics, engineering, etc.
- The Order of Gestalt. The Order is a newly-formed beast-hunting guild that serves to protect Axia, but make no mistake – the organization is in it for the profit. As a whole, the guild is relatively progressive, and spans across Licyra and Grimeia equally. All who enlist choose a codename and are meant to be magically bound to and partnered with another “gestalt”.
- The Syndicate. While the Syndicate is a Grimeia-based group of organized crime, “organized” is a loose sense of the word. Referring to the Syndicate itself is on par with referring to “the mafia” or “the yakuza” – the Syndicate is a collective of gangs, families, hierarchical structures, and individuals.
- The Armitage. The Armitage is the primary provider for the exclusive and cutting-edge technology found around Grimeia. The group focuses primarily on circulating their goods within Grimeia, with limited products being traded for valuable items in Licyra by the runners of the organization.

THE SYSTEMS
[break]
SITE STORE.[break]
Our on-site currency is
credits, which can be earned by posting or participating in missions and events. Our
general store contains items available to any characters, while our
technology store has special items limited to those aligned with Grimiea. Our augment store, also limited to Grimeians, will turn any character into the Augmented member group (if they aren’t already) and grant them new abilities. The items for sale rotate regularly, creating scarcity and a thriving trade market.
[break][break][break]
PLAYER-TO-PLAYER TRADING.[break]
No fear for our tech-eager Licyran friends! Aside from participating in events and missions, which can occasionally grant items, Licyrans can obtain tech items through trading. So long as the trade makes
logical IC sense, we allow characters to trade items and currency amongst themselves.
[break][break][break]
SIDE MISSIONS & DIVINE QUESTS.[break]
Axis Mundi has a functioning job board that offers
paying missions for all forms of characters. Most are open to the public; some request characters from a certain background or faction. These pay in credits or items and cater to both slice-of-life and combat-oriented characters.[break][break]
Divine Quests are optional solo missions that are personally created for a
specific character at a major inflection point in their character or plot arc. Staff may approach members with offers for these quests, which may look like solo DMed threads, drabble requests, etc. and typically offer very high rewards.
