Been thinking about maybe starting a site again, but with my people skills, it’ll probably just end poorly.

The idea I had would be something like a fictional island nation, possibly even a fictional world. Write a few customs different from our own so it has its own culture and all.

But the real kicker would be introducing a changing landscape. Stuff like making a certain location inaccessible for a little because “the school is undergoing renovations” and temporarily asking any students with school-related threads to do so in another location (like maybe the school hires the local events venue to conduct classes).

Maybe there can be a tsunami, or a fierce storm where inhabitants are asked to stay indoors and you can have cosy “snuggle up together during the storm” threads. (Alternately, be stuck in the office with no way to get home during a storm.)

There can also be more mundane stuff, like “price of apples surges due to large apple freighter being lost at sea” or “latest trend for kids: meowing like a cat” and just having that be something to incorporate into your threads.

You know, a site that constantly throws prompts at members to encourage writing new stuff. Throw in an undercurrent of a plot so you’re not just slice-of-life-ing and bang.

But urghhh, getting a skin, recruiting staff, attracting members… I get a stomachache just thinking about it. 

Please take this idea and let me roleplay on your site.

I maintain it's kinda wild how much importance people place on graphics for a word-based hobby.

For what it's worth, I kinda tune out if a site has too many bells and whistles layout/coding/graphics-wise, because it can be overwhelming. For Pixel Perfect, for example, I don't even pay attention to what's all in the profile or the sidebar, but I think it has a decent balance of fanciness for those who are into that, while maintaining enough of the "basic" forum concept to be accessible to those of us less inclined to busy interfaces.


Posting a graphic with links to your site stuff has been around for two decades, but I also wish advertisements would tell me a little more about the site. I'm more interested in the specifics of your site than art you took from someplace that has little to do with the actual site.

EDIT: He came! Didn't get the Luka eidolons I was hoping for, but I finally won a 50/50.

Bruh, I'm still trying to win a 50/50. Hopefully Aventurine is when my luck finally changes... Congrats on the dapper dude! I wasn't gonna pull for him at first (despite my 100% 50/50 loss streak, I have all limited sustains), but then his backstory came and I am down for it.

"Content notice" actually sounds sweeter than "Content warning", 10/10 would recommend. Avoids all the negative connotations of the word "warning", is fairly similar to what films and books have been doing for ages, and avoids the troubles of "trigger warning"! Best of all worlds.

Could be either too little or too much sleep too. Sometimes headaches are caused by...headaches, so if you have something that can lessen the pain, that may help prevent a future one.

If it's coupled with bouts of memory loss, disorientation, or speech impediments, see a doctor immediately.

That'd actually be really cool to have. No longer would I blindly wander into CSA histories!

Would probably call it "content warning", though, because these things don't have to be related to just people with...history. Some of us just really don't like certain topics because they bring us down or something, so being able to opt out before you sit down and hash out a plot and figure out it's going to be unpleasant saves grief on all sides of the aisle.

I'm always excited to post, so I do it as soon as possible. There's nothing quite like advancing a thread by seven posts on a good day.

Since I'm quickly distracted, I'd probably lose interest if I didn't reply to threads whenever I can; once something's moved out of active memory, I'm chasing the next high. Thankfully in roleplay, that only happens when people need 2+ weeks to post replies, which hasn't been all that often.

My nephew was all, "What's that game you play with the dice and the miniatures?"

"Something similar to Dungeons and Dragons."

"Can I play?"

"Sure."



That was six months ago, and now he keeps asking when our next session is.

I cleaned all the windows today.

There's a storm coming, but I still cleaned the windows.

I cleaned the windows and can do it all over again after the storm.

But I cleaned the windows, because I had decided I was going to clean the windows.

And a schedule once set cannot be changed for something so silly.
