i was going to try to wait until i got to the other side of moving in early december to look for something but. i am literally going insane from how badly i want to write again so. here i am.

i'm here looking for a new site... with a catch. that catch being that i'm not just looking for a site but that i'm also wanting a new rp bestie to write with + take me in under their wing.

in other words... if you're on a site right now and you have a want ad you're literally dying to see played out and you're wanting to have a new friend to spend the day bouncing things back + forth with over discord and are eager to drag said new friend to get into extended soap opera style plots with all your friends... this is your sign from the heavens to hit me up.

i'm trying to be open-minded about this, so i'm only going to put down 3 rules:
1) 18+ jcink animanga sites only
2) no bigger (15+ members) or more established (1+ year) communities
3) you must have been active on the site for at least a month

i'll consider anything i get that meets those three requirements, but hey, if you want to tempt me further:
-- i tend to gravitate towards "fun" ship dynamics that have a "story" to tell + progress through
-- i've been dying to do a polyship and/or a prolonged ship dynamic with lots of outside interactions with outside parties (think found families giving shovel talks)
-- i prefer to be able to rp smut with my partner (even if it's only privately)
-- i typically prefer playing canons over ocs (especially if i can reimagine said canon in a new setting because it's genuinely fun getting to imagine what xyz canon would be like in abc au)
-- i am more likely to gravitate towards a simple/quick app over anything extensive after my break
-- my main brainrot rn is ffxiv but i'd be p easy to tempt back into pokemon, twst, genshin, hsr, or arknights with the right incentive
-- i would literally cry if someone was willing to give me my dumb crackship of kyrian hunter from the dark-hunters series (+ chronicles of nick) with aloysius pendergast from the pendergast series

make of all of that what you will.

i've been taking an unintended break the past few months and gotta be honest, i hella miss writing + telling stories

sadly, i'm not really seeing anything appealing enough to me to entice me to try to get back into doing it, so big oof for me i guess

i edited this out of my op because i didn't wanna wade too deep into discourse (and still don't) but.

from a more intellectual standpoint, forum-based rping is a "dying" hobby because the memberbase is shrinking faster than it's growing. from a purely idealistic standpoint, i think we're stronger together under that banner than we are to subdivide into smaller communities + turn on each other... but if you wanna take a practical standpoint, in my experience, it's a lot easier for people to go cross-medium (like rl to animanga) or cross-host (like jcink to pb) than it is to go cross-medium (like discord to jcink).

from a more personal one, while there will always be a certain number of people who will automatically dismiss animanga out of hand for being younger just because it uses illustrated fcs, the same way that a lot of western culture dismisses animation as lesser because much it's a popular medium for children's content, i don't think it does us any favors to repay the favor in kind by largely writing off the outside community in turn, if only because it's then making it more difficult to make any headway in presenting cases to the wider community for them to change their minds about those preconceived notions.

but i guess that's all just my two cents from the general viewpoint of an idealistic "forum rpers stronger together" vs a pragmatic "it's a lot easier to catch a fish when you're not working with bad bait"

in all honesty, i really wish animanga had a solid jcink resource site, if only because it's a really awkward spot being an animanga jcinker. you're always having to pick whether you're advertising cross-platform (to post things on pixel) or cross-medium (to advertise them on the bigger jcink sites) and the coding resources are even slimmer since most of the codes here are for pb (which makes sense, it is a resource site hosted on pb) and most of the codes on jcink resources have p different aesthetic styles than animanga typically goes for.


like. don't get me wrong, there are some features on pb that i do like for a resource community (like the block feature or multi-user pms), but it's definitely not a fun situation having a foot in both worlds and struggling to make good headway in either because of that fact

nothing like having your entire day shift because a character woke up from hibernation and immediately started melting down over things you can't fix

if you turn the boss back towards the party fighting me for aggro, i immediately take your main tank privileges away from you

technically, as long as all of the corresponding abbreviations are on it, you can just use the same field for multiple different options. so like.
