• Try to stop holding myself to unrealistic standards / expectations.
• Try to stick to things I start - despite how other people might feel.
• Get rid of things I don't need to hold onto - including subscriptions of things I don't need.
• Stop my incessant spending - again - on things I don't need.
• Be more frugal this year overall.
• Learn to be happy with what I have instead of wanting more just to have more.
• Do things that make ME happy instead of just doing it to make others happy.

@murdoc, I don't disagree with this statement either. My original point of this whole topic of conversation was that sometimes people get busy - especially around Holidays - and people can't always be active 24/7 on the discord and sometimes I feel like that is what people expect.

I hate how now in days - sites are judged by their Discord and their discord activity. I miss the days of just cboxes. Judge and join my site based on it's content - not the fact that we're all too busy with work and Holidays to talk 24/7 on the discord D:

Honestly, Pixie, that happened/happens with cbox, too. It doesn't matter what protocol you use. xD I don't think I've ever gotten that question myself, but at the sites I played at, I did see people drop in on a perfectly active cbox and say "is this site active?" My guess about what causes this is either: a.) a lack of IC posts/threads in recent topics or recent posts (or when they're overwhelmed by ads), and b.) an admin's reputation of how often they open and close sites. Those are just my guesses, though. Never asked "the question" myself, so not really sure what drives a person to ask.

My comment wasn't "why" people don't join sites OR my site in general lol My comment was regarding discord communities and the people who will use that as their deciding factor as to why they will join a site or not - not just my site in particular. Sorry if I made it sound as if I was speaking just about myself but that wasn't what this was about. I was just commenting on how - now in days it seems like sites can't even function without having a discord. Sites that don't often get asked by it's members "Why don't we have a discord" or "Can we please make a discord for the site" because it seems like the norm. As for the "Is this site active" question that came from random guest on the cboxes - yeah - who hasn't experienced that, even on an active cbox but again - that is apples to oranges. That isn't the same level of having a site judged on it's discord community / activity.

It just seems as if now you have to be impressive in both aspects while back in the day you only had to dazzle someone with your site - not both.
