i appreciate everyone's insights!! to add onto my question a bit, this also includes for a site plot, rather than individual. what is a high stakes site plot to you that feels engaging?

for my own answer, i don't really care if a site plot is high stakes. i'm not great with grand scale things, so maybe that's why, but i prefer focusing on character interactions. so high stakes to me is more like consequences that characters are forced to live with? character a and character b get into a fight and say some pretty terrible things so they never reconcile. or two characters in a ship realize they're incompatible and have to talk about it. in a less sol way, two characters have opposing views that force them to eventually be each other's enemies.

i was always against them b/c i don't feel like vent channels contribute anything positive and would encourage pity partying --

but recently i'm like. i would rather have a vent channel i can mute than deal with people who treat gen chat like their personal twitter to air their issues. i was gonna make a joke following this but i'll actually b serious: i'm constantly stressed and overwhelmed with my own life, let alone some person i barely know. i role play and chat with people to enjoy myself. when ppl come into a chat to spontaneously complain about a personal issue they are currently having and refocus the conversation on them, it becomes draining.

it's kind of like. i'm here to escape negativity. but you are now contributing to negativity.

(and like i understand sometimes people just need a hot second to vent but ideally take that to dm's or at least don't make it a reoccurring thing??)

- they're the same character EXCEPT this one is french and this one is a disaster!
- token white friend isn't even white
- woman moves to new city to avoid her problems. continues causing the same problems.
- girl declares "i can fix him" to unfixable boy's face
- deaf man would like to rage
- i'm a triple threat: dumb angry AND stupid!

some canon chars
- pretty man continues to be pretty obnoxious
- woman tears castle out of earth and is promptly forgotten.
- girl won't stop ticking
- every problem can be solved by punching it
