does anyone here play punishing: gray raven?

mankind has been forced to abandon earth. few scattered colonies remain on its surface. many have willingly given up their human bodies to have their consciousness uploaded into androids, serving as soldiers against those overtaken by the debilitating virus that overwhelmed the planet. humans, while much more fragile, go into battle alongside androids as a failsafe to make sure they don't lose themselves to corruption.

there are some really cool factions - a merchant nation housed within a giant train, an eastern market ruled by a computer on a giant ship, babylonia - a "utopia" considered to be mankind's last stand in space, and the forsaken - men and women left on the planet's surface to try and get by on their own.

seems like a cool premise for a site. just tons of plot potential.

A medieval fantasy rp pls. With magic, kingdoms, castles, knights and all that good stuff in between without the heavy stats. Idm reading up if you're basing it off a series. You need some help updating 10 different lists and having a general handyman around? Sure, man. I'll do it. Just make this happen. orz

i am making a fantasy RP with medievalesque areas. it's warcraft based so it's not fully medieval fantasy, but it's got room for that aesthetic.

it has optional stats and if you go statless, a variant of your character's profile will hide all the stat stuff you made optional. the stats are just there if you like dungeon crawling and d&d added to your RP, and if progression gives u serotonin, but if you prefer more character-driven stuff, you don't have to use the stat system. we don't limit player positions based off levels, so if you wanted to play like a noble or a knight or a leader of the regions, u don't have to use stats either. basically iiiiii prefer to just let my members do w/e they want so long as they're not ruining the fun for everyone else.

Oh I saw the interest check for Ars Arcanum. Stats and progression are cool but I'm already planning on investing time in one such site for now :'D Am honestly looking for a narrative driven site at the moment.

Curiously, while the option of hiding stats is pretty neat, how truly optional is the whole stat thing? How are events held for the statless? When one player wants to play strictly according to DnD rules (I'm talking proper skill checks and saving throws), it feels unfair to them and the game itself when the second player freeforms their encounter and walks up to a literal god like nbd.

events are going to be more general things like natural disasters, festivals, etc, with prompt contests and aesthetic challenges that anyone can participate in for fun. I'm too busy to DM a bunch of threads and have no real interest in hosting stat-based events because that ultimately has no narrative stake for me. I would much rather just do small-scale stuff and build based off that. besides, if it's something like a Big Site Boss going down, I would much rather have it be part of a continued IC plotline rather than just.... a raid encounter. so there'll be rules about that: you can't fix an established Site Opening Storyline without significant buildup IC, stats or no stats.

the stats are there as a vehicle for narrative rather than the other way around, anyway. I'm already planning a thread in which my statted character auto-beats a high ranking demon with a macguffin she found earlier, and we're not rolling for it because my partner and i both agreed it would be cool. We'll be rolling to beat some mooks before then because we also agreed that would be fun.

You know, I kinda like the way you explained it. It does sound like an interesting take when you have systematic progression but also value build up. I'd be interested in taking a look around (not sure if it's exactly what I want right now) when it's up >Dc
