I have a new appreciation for teachers.

I've had to fill in this week in addition to classes for lectures and holy crap did I underestimate how hard it is to sit there and be expected to talk/be human Google for an hour. Doing that and then swapping to life coach/grammar expert/emotional support right afterwards is a mental switch I didn't really appreciate until I've had to do it. I do hope the nerves go away, though, considering I have to do it a few more times this semester.

I am so petty I just wholeass listened to panels/podcasts for the past few hours to find a citation for an unsourced quote the wiki had in my fandom to prove someone wrong on a point that probably didn't even matter.

Now the RWBY wiki has one more citation because someone decided to make a 'but X is canon!' argument. I knew I remembered the creator say it wasn't, but I didn't remember where. Hour 3 of searching and BAM I won an internet argument with CITATIONS and TIMESTAMPS.

Yeah, I could've just said 'Yeah we're not doing that here.' but that would be reasonable and less time consuming. You gotta flex on stubborn people every so often y'know?

Every time I stick to my guns and say a certain concept or other is not something that my site does I am always pretty happy with myself.

Having a heroes only site and having people commit crimes against humanity in their backstory but feel really sorry about it before doing more before coming really isn't something I wanna deal with at all. Certain concepts simply cannot fit if the RPer is insistent on it with the theme/point of the site and I'm glad I'm actually willing to say that now more consistently rather than half-ass and waste everyone's time like I used to.

Like if someone really wants to play Goku, that's fine. But you're not having a planet destroying saiyan fighting aliens in a slice of life site set in a small town in Maine or something. That's not the theme/point of the site.

My dumb ass cannot be trusted around Reese Cups. I've been kind of sick the past few days and made the mistake of getting a monster sized bag. I am pretty sure subsisting entirely on Reese Cups is not a valid way to get unsick, but then again I'm not a doctor.

These ads are for a non-canon RWBY AU set 25 years after the Great War and focusing on the students of Haven Academy. The Remnant Project has been up since early February and is a progression/combat system spin on the genre.

Full Wanted Ad here for Rose..

Rosalia Phoenix is a Vacuo native, former bandit, and a wild card in every sense of the word to say that Rose is rough around the edges is an understatement. Her skill in combat is helped entirely by her semblance that allows her to brute blitz her way through problems alongside a natural strength that is well above the average that allows her to just physically manhandle most people. OOC warning, I tend to write longer posts so if that's not up your alley this will probably be a bad fit. I don't care about post lengths, but I know some people who do so noting!

Rose's semblance is tentatively named Marauder and is a Physical Boost semblance that ups her speed and durability for as long as it is activated. FC is Mordred from Fate/Apocrypha.

Full Wanted Ad here for Vinho/other brothers..

Vinho is Carmim's youngest brother, and was one of the two that went to Mistral with her, when he was 17. He's probably Carmim's closest sibling, considering he's just a year older than her. The only other things that should be part of his character app are being born in Vacuo, and an association with the color red (his name is Portuguese for wine.) He should also probably have the same vaguely West African accent as Carmim, since that's the region I based their home village on. He also plays the kora, though how much that is embedded in his character is optional. Everything else is up to whoever claims him! FC can be changed but the image is Percival from Granblue Fantasy. Semblance and everything else up to player!

i'm so done with driving tbh. like, just let me move to a city and use public transportation lmao. better yet, i should just move to japan
I literally used to think this until I saw how most cities just screw up their public transportation. While I know I'm in Florida and crazy is everywhere, most of the public transportation is considerably the most backwards thing you could find in the south east. I've found that lyft/uber tends to be the cheapest and best out of all the options considering the time crunch in most areas. I did like Virginia's public transport though. California was pretty bad though.

Tampa Bay in particular was recently named one of the absolute worst in the country for public transport. The entire region is so pedestrian unfriendly it's literally just have a car or rely on uber/lyft for everything.

Within the past year I got access to some of my old writings from 2016ish from right before I took like a two year long break from roleplaying and I remembered thinking my posts/threads were super good but was kinda 90% thinking it was probably just nostalgia but I looked back and was like who the hell is this?

It was a period where I felt like I was being challenged really hard RP-wise by being surrounded by better writers so I was always trying really really hard to impress them and shit, one of whom I still keep in touch with even today who wrote literally exactly the same style I do except... better. Even when I was at 100% of my power she was like at 130-140%. Now I'm like at 70% of my power so I looked back like why can't that be me anymore.

I never played that OC again but holy shit did I have fun with them though, you can just kind of tell when a writer loves an OC to bits and it was completely obvious in my posts. I've only gotten that high with one other OC since then tbh and even then it wasn't as intense so I will look back on that time in fondness and also proof to myself that I was at one point pretty good at this writing thing before I TOOK A LONG BREAK AND LOST ALL MY POWER.

Super smoothly just ran an event by ignoring all the procedures/stipulations I'm used to dealing with in previous sites and basically rearranging how I did it to work with the resources I had.

The team-up thread where all 4 event threads came together was the quickest I've ever seen a group thread go because everyone was so hype. It's been really fun to make previously rejected and derided ideas succeed and succeed hard, because it proves I was on the right track in the past before I got bullied off of it.

They're playing a DPS fighter class.

If this is a correct translation I may have cracked the code.

When events explode and shit moves fast enough to where I'm the one having trouble keeping up.

7 people all posting within 48h in the same thread is UNHEARD OF for me in previous sites, and I'm fucking glad they're biting so hard and making running events a breeze and making my projections for how long the events would last out of the water. I have literally never seen events being blown through so fast, and it's only my compulsive need to prewrite shit that has made sure I haven't dragged it.

Whenever I get a complaint, especially about how I run things I always go back and check to see if it's valid or not.

For example, if someone says the signup windows for events are too short that's actionable feedback.

It's actionable because I can directly check how long I had signups open and see if I need to make any adjustments there or not. There's always the chance I misjudged something or closed it up a bit too early, and I can definitely understand that. IC signups were up for 35 days total in my site's most recent event, with OOC signups up for the last 15 of those 35. A secondary event was made because we got an influx of members right at the end of the signup period that was open for 10 days, so 45 signup days total for one event cycle.

If anything, when put out there like that I'm kicking myself for letting it lag that much. There is no way in hell there needs to be that long of a window before an event starts, and I stalled for too long. The fact that I came to the opposite conclusion of the person who brought it up is irrelevant, because I wouldn't have noticed unless someone else prompted me to check.
