I'm curious as to what it is. xD (Is it graphics-related?)
Yes actually. One of them is related to aff banners and the other is related to a skin >-> 5 years I've been in this community and last week I JUST found out the font name of the particular (i have tried so many) pixel font everyone use's in their affiliate banners. YOU CANT KEEP ME OUT OF THE CLIQUE NOW HAH!
Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Drop that name tho. I've been wondering about this for ages lmao!

Seeing snippets of your rules/info copied word for word on other sites. Better yet if the whole site is basically a discount version of yours.

Happened to me multiple times now and while it's not enough to be worth pursuing, it's still a huge pissoff??

Megalomania could be a good fit! We're an animanga original fantasy RP on jcink premium. We've been around since January 2017 now so we've got a good base community. We're all fairly chill and joke around quite a bit. None of the members are overly sensitive. We're always excited to see new members, and since we've just undergone a 5 year time skip, everyone is looking for plots. It's a great time to join!

We don't have a word count (but most of us post between 200 and 600 words), and we allow a vast multitude of races due to the setting being a fairly open fantasy world. We hold frequent IC events, too, which are pretty intense and can lead to quick and unexpected character development. If you're into dark themes/good plots, you'd fit right in.

Hope to see you around!

When someone asks a series of questions that aren't even about unfilled lore holes but basically boil down to "hey, can you make my character for me?"

I really don't know how to respond to this idea fishing other than "be creative and make what you want" and I'd probably sound like a smartass. :weary:

graphic type:
advertisement
dimensions:
450x450
images: seeing your work, i trust your taste but i'll link my zc favourites in case you need ideas. i've only started building it up tho so it's pretty sparse
face-claim: n/a
theme: our next skin is gonna be black/dark purple, so a colour scheme to match that would be rad. thematically, something edgy/dark involving fighting, angst, witchcraft, etc. would fit pretty well. font-wise, i'd love playfair display but that's not really a hard requirement if you find it doesn't work well. no preference when it comes to gif or static. whatever floats your goat! for words....i think the site's name (megalomania) and genre (original dark fantasy) will be sufficient.
anything else?: i jumped for joy when i saw you had a shop open. your graphics are amazing!

I definitely agree that some people can be particularly nasty in their response to @everyone tags - or, at least, accidentally come off as such when joking about the inconvenience - but I think there's, at least personally, a very definitive difference between someone tagging everyone for announcements, or even, like, telling them they'll be gone from the site when they're in threads with a LOT of people on the board... and someone dropping a "@everyone, come plot with my girl, lol!!!!" once a week, and then never actually trying to suggest actual plots. Tagging everyone to make them look at silly artwork. Tagging them to tell them a pun they came up with. I'm not even so much upset by people tagging for open threads - but I usually have a channel specifically FOR open threads in my servers, which are usually updated so infrequently that I'd hope people wouldn't have it muted, sdkfjlhdkjfhs? - and by plotting, I guess, but I'm a little less forgiving of plotting, because there are usually plotters on site, if you want everyone's attention so bad, just go post in their plotter, maybe? but it's mostly when it's abused for topics like this that are... kind of worthless. At least, when put up next to an @everyone tag.

When I see pings, I'm under the impression that the information next to them is something that must be seen immediately. Heck, half the time, I have to steel myself in preparation for whatever it's gonna be about, since, outside of my private friend chat, it's either going to be something site major or some Serious Business. It's kinda like a slap to the face when it's something so mundane that it begs the question of why it even?? Needs??? The tag???? In the first place????? If you're trying to plot in a channel where people are already talking, or want to share a funny video, there are probably already people there to look at it. Don't beckon everyone and pull their attention from things that may be, and likely are more important to them.

I never actively complain when someone pings everyone. I just read it and leave it as is. But it is a little frustrating to me when I see one person or a handful of people using it for such silly little things. That's not what the tag is for. Please stahp.

EDIT: Also, consider my Discord right now, I am dying.

I can appreciate random pictures & crap being annoying to be tagged for! I didn't even know people did that  (puke)

Also you make a good point that people should take initiative and hit plotters if they want attention. It annoys me to no end when someone constantly expects others to go to them. Like I get being shy, but I can kinda brush my own shyness aside because I know that's also most of the RP community? Someone has to make a move.

Or people that never give input when plotting and expect you to have to do all the work. I always wonder if they're even interested - like am I pulling someone into something they don't wanna do? Just TELL me  O_o

-this one's oddly specific so it might not be relatable, but when people bitch about the everyone tag being used in discord every time without fail. Nobody uses it for menial reasons. It's mostly used for announcements and plotting stuff (new plotters, open threads, wanted ads, etc.). There's always some jackass who thinks they're a comedian and bitches about it and it's like....why? That's  what  it's  for. If you don't want anything to do with plotting opportunities (if that's the case, why are you even here? but I digress), suppress the tag.

Hi, I'm the comedian who bitches about @everyone tag on discord and does not understand why people ping for every single thing.

I absolutely hate seeing everyone tags for anything other than announcements because if I suppress it, I will be suppressing your entire discord channel even if I enjoy your updates & conversations, thus checking your site less. But if I do not, then I will get a red marker every single time I open discord and get annoyed by it. It is such a catch-22 situation.

If I wanted plotting opportunities or anything RP related, I would just check #plotting or whatever channel you have, you don't really need to shout to me that you have a new thread there. I mean, channels are completely optional, I can mute them when I'm busy and just want to chat/check updates and unmute when I feel like hitting plotters heavily. In my opinion, it feels rather forced when I wake up and see 5+ notifications for stuff like plotters/wanted ads/open threads because well, RP is a hobby for me and I don't like the pressure to check my discord so often to "stay relevant".

Then again, I don't mind occasional affirmations or reminders like "hey you guys are cool" or pinging people to say "i like your writing here" etc because I accidentally did this recently too and hated myself for bothering so many people at once lol.

TL;DR I am probably just not your target group but here's some insight.
I guess I just don't see how it's bothersome, honestly. I check whatever was tagged and the ping disappears. On some servers I've been in, there's like 80 red pings piled up and that's how it stays because I just don't care enough to check what it's for at that point. It doesn't bother me. It's just...there. I'm not a very organized person tho tbh

I'll admit I did get annoyed and leave a server that had everyone tags like every 10 mins, but that's some hardcore abuse. I've not seen another site come even close to that. A few pings a week isn't going to throw me into overdrive.

I think when it comes to plotting, everyone assumes that it's muted (I know I have pretty much everything muted in my server bc I don't want my phone exploding), and they really want plots/people to see them so they do an everyone tag. Now that I'm thinking of it though, it'd be really useful if discord made it so you can suppress everyone on certain channels?

Anyway, sorry if I came across as aggressive toward you/others who don't like everyone tags.  I just got fed up with seeing it day after day for months and then the whole plotting channel is derailed by "reeeeee you made me think I had a DM"

(all "you"s are general)

-when people complain about having to read. Sorry, but RP involves a lot of that - so you might want to find another hobby in general? Or go somewhere else? Like sure, I'll just delete all our hard work so you can be lazy. Lmao.

Like, I get fandom/real-life sites having less reading because most of the lore/whatever can be implied. But if it's an original setting, you can expect some reading in most cases. As an admin creating an original world, you either flesh out your setting or you resign yourself to the life of constant lore questions & being forced to type the info regardless. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was going to avoid posting in this thread, but I guess I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today :-X

In general, I wish it was common knowledge that when someone creates an RP, they are letting you into their house. This is not customer service. You can join, or you can find something you dislike to the point of not being able to deal with it, and you can leave. Easy. Especially on a site with an established member base, literally no one is going to get their panties in a twist if someone gives the ultimatum "I won't join unless..." Ah, ok. Bye then! Nobody is gonna beg you to stay when you act like a total knob. Constructive criticism is great, but this is not that.

Some people might do it differently and try to hit that thicc member count at all costs (like allowing trolls to stay or not making the site the way they like because everyone else does it like This™) but imo, those people are probably inexperienced. This is a hobby, not a job! That goes for the staff too!

Aegislash is my absolute fav. It looks cool as heck and combines my two fav types. Stance change is really fun/OP too! But I also really like Empoleon, Serperior, Mimikyu, Vanilluxe, Gengar...idk, I could make a huge list. Been playing/sometimes watching pokemon since I was 7.

For legendaries, I'd say my favs are Suicune and Lunala - at least in terms of design. Have fond memories of Articuno from the old games.

For fav type, I can't pick between ghost and steel  :-S  Steel is sturdy, cool, & literally edgy. And ghosts are just...nostalgic. I don't remember going through a single run of pokemon red without haunter and spamming hypnosis + dream eater

I'm wondering about other people's opinions on this matter as I've recently had to deal with a particularly annoying case.

I find it inappropriate - especially given most people join RPs to write and (sometimes) make friends. It depends, I guess. Obviously playful/non-serious flirting with someone you've known a long time isn't all that bad as long as it doesn't take over the entire chat. I'm guilty of this myself! And I'm also aware that a many have found partners through RP sites - but I'm assuming this is by getting to know one another through DMs. I just find it super uncomfortable/derailing/maybe even exclusive when OOC romance is pushed in a public server.

Though in the aforementioned case, the flirting was unwanted and the one dealing with it made this sentiment clear early on. It was making several people uncomfortable, so I dealt with it using the standard "this is what you did and this is why it's not acceptable, etc. etc." warning format (or maybe that's not the standard, idrk tbh). It's notable that I did have a more relaxed conversation with this member a couple weeks ago to make sure he knew what he was doing before I went and slapped down a warning. I know some people are not the best at reading rooms and simply going "hey, that's not cool" can often solve the problem entirely.

Anyway! Before this starts sounding like gossip, I'm just wondering how this has been dealt with on other sites if at all. Honestly, I saw this specific case as harassment because it kept happening even after it was made obvious that the advances weren't well-received - but to some, it might be seen as an overreaction. I've seen it argued that these situations should be handled between the members involved in private, or that the block function should be used - but since it mostly took place in the server, I'm not sure about that.

Lay it on me
