Development Update Lite

A major update in the development is coming! While I work on it, I'd like to post (since it's been a while anyway) this mini-update of assorted stuffs.


✧ Updated Terminologies

Several terminologies have been changed, and some others have been made for easier understanding.

THE OPUSCULA: The origin of one’s lore. There are three versions of the opuscula: Legends opuscula (origin of Fables), Extra opuscula (origin of Dreamers), and Living opuscula (the setting of the site).

LUSTER: Refers to the power of one's existence; the strength of how the soul burns.

KEYWORDS: See next update coming soon!

MOTIF: Formerly "character classes".

RESCUE-TYPE: Formerly "healer-type".

PARTNER POKEMON: The Pokemon brought into the Living opuscula along with the Fable and Dreamer. A Fable or Dreamer can only have one partner Pokemon.

COMPANION POKEMON: Pokemon who aren’t partner Pokemons that accompany Fables and Dreamers. They are usually Pokemon from the Living opuscula.

SYSTEM: Refers to a theme-bounded system of motifs. For instance, the current seven motifs (Trainer, Coordinator... Photographer) are from the Legends System. Additional systems will appear as the story progresses such as the titular Terrors System, introducing more motifs.

AESFORM: Short for aesthetic + uniform. Refers to the alt forms or "costumed" forms mentioned before. Both Pokemon and non-Pokemon use Aesforms.

REVERBERATION: Refers to the combination of blas energies, which result to evolutions and mechanics as seen in the game. There are two types of Reverberation: Anima (Max Factor, EX Evolution... Zenith Aura), and Spiritus (Titan form, Master move...Unite move).

FLOREGNOSIS: Refers to setting's magic, previously referred to as runes. This is the counterpart to Chrysoboros (the use of blas energies).

SKILL: Refers to Pokemon moves. This is primarily to avoid confusion from terms that use the word "type" (Attack-type, Bruiser-type...Rescue-type). So instead of "Fire Blast" being a fire type move, it is simply a fire skill. This is exclusively for moves, not for Pokemon (eg. Fire-type Pokemon, Ice-type Pokemon).

ABILITY FLOW: Popularly known as Ability Forms started by n0rtist. The observable characterstics of Pokemon change depending on their current ability.

✧ Pokemon mechanics

Some mechanics from the series lore do not apply or behave differently in the setting. The differences are observed in-character due to them being in the Living opuscula.

IMMUNITIES: There are mostly no type immunities, only resistances. Only Shadow Pokemon are known to have type immunities due to their unique condition.

RESISTANCES: All Pokemon only have type resistance, which members can select. Eg. A Water-type can resist Water or Ice, etc.

WEAKNESSES: All Pokemon only have one type weakness, which members can select. Eg. A Water-type can be weak to either Electric or Grass, etc. For dual-types, they can be weak to one type they normally resist from the game, if it's not their resistance from the rp. For example, Sableye (Dark/Ghost) can be weak to Fighting because of its Dark typing if it doesn't resist it from its Ghost typing.)

ABILITIES: All Pokemon have multiple abilities that activate one at a time called Ability Flow. For example, Tropius has Chlorophyll, Solar Power, and Harvest. It can also have other non-official abilities as long as It Makes Sense (by its species or the context of the story), such as Tropius having Stench if its fruits are extremely rotten.

SKILLS: There are two types of skill: inactive and active. Inactive skills cannot be used and active skills can be used. This is important as all Pokemon can learn all Pokemon moves but they need certain Keywords to turn it into an active skill. Officially, Lapras can use Sing but in the lore, Lapras can use this active skill because it has Keywords related to voice and music. If, say, Lapras received a reward from Mew that teaches it Transform, Lapras would need to develop Keywords relating to it to make it into an active skill. Otherwise, it remains as an inactive skill.

There are also other conditions that can help, such as the Aesform.

Pokemon Evolution: Terror S (or the Terrorsverse for short) is a Pokemon roleplay featuring canon characters from the Pokemon franchise (mainline and spin-off) and original characters from other Pokemon worlds and timelines (canon-based, alternate canon, or original setting). It takes on the premise of multiverse or infinite worlds, allowing an ensemble of stories about people and Pokemon to be told. You can be the star of Kalos, Champion Diantha, or be her personal assistant in another reality based exactly on the Pokemon XY. You can play the Galactic Boss, Cyrus, years after he’d disappeared with your lore that he’d lost his memories and has become a soul-searching vagrant. Or either of his parents back in the time when he was still a teenager seeking validation.

Both canon and original characters are open to any lore you desire. The premise allows for no plots to conflict as each are from a separate reality of their own no matter how similar (even practically identical) to one lived by another. But that doesn’t mean plots are to remain parallel flows. Why not take in that person’s lore as part of your character’s reality? The coffee the PA has always brought to her Diantha may be the same one yours would enjoy. Former boss Cyrus could share the same memories with that parent from another time and space.

Humans aren’t the only playable characters. Pokemon are welcomed, too. Original characters don’t have to be connected to a canon either; their world could be a completely different thing of its own!

The Terrorsverse aims to be an open canvas for anyone who is a fan of the series while thrusting them in an engaging environment of lore, features and mechanics crafted uniquely for the site.

There are many inspirations drawn for this site. Among the notable ones are Trusty Bell: Chopin’s Dream, RE:Creators, Lost Technology, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Genso Suikoden, Breath of Fire IV, Legend of Mana, and Fear and Hunger.

✧ Story So Far...

Pokemon Evolution: Terror S is an experience of reconcillation and discovery amidst the impact of a multiverse cataclysm conducted by the Legends of Youth and the Destroyers in the name of assuring humanity's continued survival. Dreamers, beings from the destroyed worlds of echoes, and Fables, beings from the source where the Destroyers came from, are brought together to face the mysteries of Paradox Paldea and the Pokemon world. The former being the refuge of Dreamers, and the other the home of the Legends of Youth. An uncertain partnership between people and Pokemon begins anew as the presence of Shadow Pokemon, the very tools they used to destroy worlds, encroaches upon their story.

Polarity (complete) - jk actually not bl but it’s one of my fav works of all time. Humans with supernatural powers and government conspiracy and experimentation with reliable adults and believable teenagers and heroic and suspenseful moments. Psychology, still funny somehow, drama, action, angst, and horror they dont tag but definitely slaps you awake. Just a definite page turner. No romance imo! Which is *chef’s kiss* ik it sounds contrary with the train i brought but listen.

A Trace of the Wonder / Traces of the Sun (complete) - a dungeon type manhwa where there are “restorers” alongside those awakened. Restorers repair broken stuff. Our mc is a restorer with secrets of his own and the ml is a git at first but the story and freedom of the mc from his past is just beautiful. the way the story concludes reminds me lf fmab. It goes full circle. Maybe even the plot is sorta it. Has some cw on su/cide and zombies

Midwood - choo choo I LIED AGAIN IT’S NOT BL BUT IT IS ALSO ONE OF MY FAV OF ALL TIME. It’s like tower of god but actually stuck to its roots (and im still a tog fan). A guy who literally cant feel emotions bc of a head injury travels back in time to kill the guy wgo pretty much ruined the world plus killed his mom. You can tell if it’s your type of manhwa just from the first chapter. It’s a found family story and i love that the group is compromised of different ages. The mc is loke 30+ lol and the duo he starts with are amazing characters tgat subvert the hero and magician tropes. They’re people *nods*
