The fact of the matter is, no one wants to join the community rl or animanga simply cause forum rp is dying because expectations and timesink.

This stood out to me the most 'cause I've always heard friends who do Discord RPs (former forum rpers, I might add) tell me that forum rp is dying out, and I thought I could add in my two cents and try to make it short and sweet!

Imo I wouldn't say forum rp is dying per se, moreso less popular in recent years I'd say? That, and add in that pandemic we had that played a small role. It's just that there are much more accessible and convenient resources for roleplay, namely things like Tumblr and, without a single doubt, Discord RP. I would even go as far as to say that Discord RP plays a MASSIVE role in forum rp's decreased popularity. You can do literally everything in one RP server there. Talk to the community? Done. Roleplay? Done. Make your app? Done. Plot, whether it's in the server or through DMs? Done. Not even on a computer or laptop? No problem, you can do it all through your phone too!

But despite Discord RP's popularity being massive compared to forum rp, I doubt that we're a dying breed. Most of us started off with chat rps in general before we made our transition to forum rps, and I think the cycle will continue to repeat itself; a bunch of youngins coming from the land of chat rps, let it be Discord or otherwise, transitioning to the world of forum rp. I'm also pretty sure there's a few folks here who mentioned they were new to forum rp as well! Now that may not be a lot, but I think that kind of helps feed into my point a little, if that makes sense.

Now all of that said, I will say that with how far coding in general has came with forum rp in terms of aesthetics and structure, it can definitely be overwhelming to someone who absolutely has no idea how doHTML or basic coding works if they're dipping their toe into the genre for the first time.

EDIT: Forgot my TL;DR: forum rp, imo, is not dying, but just less popular for the time being.

Don't mind me, just dusting off this account here

Title says it all. How do you plot when it comes to creating a good ass thread/story with someone(s)? What do you prefer? Do you prefer the traditional, good ol' plotter you'd nab from a resource site and post it on the forum? Or would you post your character's bio in the plotter channel with a little blurb and do everything on Discord? Do you do both?

For me, unpopular opinion, but I really enjoying plotting on the forum. Maybe it's because I'm used to it, but when it comes to Discord, I kind of get distracted and take 203923 years to even remember that I had a DM/tag to reply to for a plot.

The moment I saw "soda loving zombies" I needed to see what was going on... and then the screenshot killed me lol.

Color me interested, this sounds like fun! I especially like the idea of staff choosing your powers if you drink the soda to get more of it! I just have two questions:

- You said you were going to go for premium on Jcink, will it be 18+?

- Are you using a traditional app or freeform app?

Song that inspired this entire concept!

I posted in the quick interest thread about this idea that I've been thinking about for a while. It was more or less a summary of what the site would be about, but I figured it would be better to go into detail into a separate thread so people can get a better idea of what the site is. I noticed there isn't much steampunk or at least steampunk elements in general, so I decided instead of waiting for someone to do it, I can do it myself.

I introduce to you Don't Surrender: a Steampunk dystopian roleplay mixed with fantasy, Solarpunk and futuristic elements that focuses on the injustice and suffering from a newly reformed government that once promised the country a better future after a war that broke out between another country.

Premise: To give some context, I want to quickly go over the events that leads up to the actual conflict among others that are tied to it. The country in question is called Lexim. It was home to who they were dubbed as Lucians amongst their own kind, but were also labelled as Mutants. Lucians were beastlike folk that either resembled to Humans in appearance, humanoid, or just a beast all together. Their technology, architecture, and food were built on the beauty of nature, the well structured buildings within the green and wild, the bright and colorful with the earthy and solid. What made them so special was their manifestation that was called Medeis (also called magic by Humans) and being able to use their abilities.

They were invaded by Humans and essentially industrialized the country into a more Steampunk direction. Lucians were oppressed for hundreds of years and after many years of endless fighting, they finally regained their rights. Many Humans as well have joined to fight the oppressive regime that had hurt them as well. The government was later overthrown and replaced by a more balanced and neutral system.

A few months after the Lucians' liberation, the country that the Humans came from didn't approve of the equality that the Mutant received and declared war on Lexim. It was grueling since the Human country had better resources (now Lexim it's true that some resources were transferred to it, but back then the weaponry were considered weak since the Lucians relied more on Medeis. Even with Medeis, the Human Country managed to deal more carnage). In the end Lexim managed to win but the country was left in nearly shambles. They turned to the government to help bring the country back up on its feet, but have done nothing. Another revolution had started and were eventually overthrown.

This time the Lucians have retained back their positions, ones that ruled the country with an iron fist for their own egotistical needs. Humans became the new discriminated and oppressed creatures while even a regular Lucian was also getting screwed over. Not as much as Humans per se, but it's still an extremely alarming concern.

Gangs have been made to protect each other while sharing a motive that range from overthrowing the government yet again to just trying to survive. The rich Mutants exercise their abuse with ease and people of both races and all backgrounds are left to either survive on their own or with other people. Murder, stealing, anything to keep themselves alive.

Forum: This will be on Jcink since I'm a lot more familiar with it and comfortable. A friend of mine is already helping me get a skin!

Rating: Dont' know if I want to go premium or not, so for now it'll be PG13/2-1-2.

Face Claims: Animanga. Maybe original art too so as long as you give credit.

Profile: Either a shipper app or a profile one depending on the skin being used.

Medeis/Magic: Lucians are born with magic and Humans are able to learn it (will be explained in more detail on the site). I did mention it would be elemental only, but I decided to add more. There are five classes: Natura (elemental), Cadaver (physical), Animo (mental), Nota (familiars), and Mortuo (necromancy). They can be used as either spells or just regular techniques. You'll be able to start with one and earn another one ic or through an even. You may only have maximum of 3 (or 2) classes.

Weapons: Weapons are, while optional, also allowed. Guns, explosives, and melee can be used. There will be a shop if you'd like to buy some weapons. They'll be mainly steam and solarpunk, but there are some futuristic elements added to the mix so that can be allowed as well.

Races: Humans and Lucians. They're mutants, but I wanted them to have a cooler name lol.

'kay so the premise was more longer than quicker, but hopefully I didn't waste too much of your time lol. Most stuff will be more on the extensive lore such as the full history of Lexim, its events, the Human takeover, all of that good stuff will be optional to read. Pretty much anything very lore heavy will be optional readings. I made a Discord server for anyone that wants to stick around, see what ideas are made, and even add in their own ideas to really make the slight flourish.

Thanks for taking the time to read this regardless if you're interested or not! Bonus points if you are, too!

I don't want to give too much away since it's a quick interest thread, but I'll be more than happy to provide more details in a separate if there's enough interest gathered.

I was thinking of making a dystopian elemental abilities roleplay in a fantasy setting. A quick rundown of the premise would be that the country of [NAME HERE] has been caught in a war with another country and eventually [NAME HERE] lost the war which put the country into a full on panic. Concerns on resources like food were as high as ever and many people turned their heads to the government, who looked the other way. A civil revolution erupted as a response and attempted to overthrow the government. The rich decided to step in and promised to use their money for the greater good. The public would be worried about leaving their lives in the hands of one of the most corrupt groups in [NAME HERE] but they had no other choice.

Regret becomes apparent when they saw that their country only became worse. The rich rules wit an iron fist and at this point everyone is looking after themselves. Basically in the country, you either hunt or become the hunted. Gangs and factions have formed to look after each other while setting a goal of what they would see as a utopia. Others well, they just like the chaos. Crime has increased higher than ever with forcing the average person to learn how to defend themselves.

The setting in terms of architecture and construction will be based on steampunk designs while inventions will have aa futuristic twist that involves things like communication and weaponry.

FCs will obviously be animanga, and I can even throw in mutants into the mix for those that don't want to play completely human looking characters!

I do plan to still work on this even if this doesn't get much interest but like I said before, I will be happy to provide more details in a separate thread if there's some buzz around this idea. I think it'll also be good for me to broaden my experience on worldbuilding and lore making too!
