this is one of the reasons why i've been so hesitant in trying to make an ic of my own. my graphic skills are so poor and i personally don't think words alone can garner enough interest hgfdsdfgffds btw this is not a jab on anyone this is just for me and me only

It's 100% okay if your graphic skills aren't the best! Just to piggyback a bit on what Neko said, you don't have to be super intricate in your IC; words have a bigger impact than you think. There's been IC where words alone have garnered a lot of interest because they give a better insight of what the site is, what it offers, etc, and you can make a better judgement on whether or not said site is interesting for you.

For me, I'd keep things short and sweet. Give a blurb of what your site is. Give people an idea of what to expect form your site/things you plan to create. What genre is it? Will there be quests? Canon positions? Difference races? Will it be 18+? Are there stats? Little things like this can really help people get a clearer idea of what you'll be making. A graphic added can definitely help, but writing is most important and aesthetics are secondary to a lot of people, like myself for example. That said, graphic only is just as valid!

I wish you the best of luck to not just the IC, but also the site creation and bringing it to life!

I enjoy the character approach. I think it really sets the tone of the thread and gives somewhat of a good idea of what other characters/writers would expect from my own; if it's your first time meeting them/reading about them, then going just a little in depth with their thoughts and beliefs can give a better first impression of who my character is initially.

Dipping my toes into attempting to create a site (daring on my part tbh, I'd say), I never realized how hard it is to come up with a name for a site. Like... really hard. It can't just be anything, it has to fit the site's overall theme and genre. It makes me appreciate even the littlest things within the process!

I try to post all at once, just to get it off my chest if all the threads I'm in have been replied to. Keyword: try. XD I feel more organized and freer knowing every post that needed to be owed was owed all at once. Admittedly, there have been threads I was lowkey more invested in, which had a slight higher priority in. I found that hoarding made me more focused compared to doing it as I go, but I feel in my case it tends to depend on how fast a person posts AND how long their post is.

That said, this made me reflect on just how much threads I've bit off more than I could chew, which could make hoarding a lot more draining than expected, so I tend not to take on too many threads no matter how badly I wanted to plot with someone just to avoid burning myself out.

people writing slice of life on a slice of life site vs people writing slice of life on an "edgy" site

I'm sorry, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to meme. XD

This post really had me thinking on my experience in regular real life/slice of life and more action/political roleplays in regards to conflict that I'd like to reflect on! What I've noticed (and to reiterate again, through my own experience) is that conflict in SOL settings, amongst characters than a plot wide type, is that SOL you don't really have any room to go crazy with conflict because everything is normal. A little too normal. Even if there is conflict or there is room to create conflict, it can't go all out, if you will.

Then you'll run into another problem of whether or not characters would be able to participate or somehow fit themselves into your own character's conflict. AND on top of that, your character could be an outcast because they don't necessarily fit with other characters, THEN you might have to water it down just so you won't sit there with 0 activity from your character. Conflict is definitely possible and can be fun (I'd know!), but you really got tread lightly and question whether or not you're willing to step out of your comfort zone.

Action stuff... pretty self-explanatory. There's a lot more room for conflict and the types of conflict to create and partake in. You can get away more with some obscurity because this isn't a mundane setting you're dealing with. You're not dealing with (some of the time) normal people you'd see walking down the street. The stakes are higher and there's more to lose, which is what I love writing on action-based/political sites!

I LOVE gambling with the idea of a powerful character losing it all. Just to reiterate on what I've said on another thread, nothing's more intriguing to me than someone who's had it all, at the top of their game, only to lose it because their head is so far in their ass they can't see anything but their own shit. On top of that? Trying to climb back at the top. It's just a fun little plot to play out and I'm not at all uncomfortable with putting any of my character's in uncompromising positions; this also goes for a SOL setting as well.

I love it when my character gets humbled. No, seriously. Your typical cocky and narcissistic asshole who's at the peak of their game only to be brought back down to earth through a shove from the rooftops?

Hello! I'm Clock, but you can call me Clo! A friend referred PP (hehe) to me and I thought I'd give it a go and make an account.

So I've just dipped my toes in the world of roleplaying in general somewhat recently(about 3 years) with messenger services, mainly Discord. I'm just getting started on roleplaying on forums and so far, whilst I prefer Jcink, Proboards has been growing on me! Some of my genres I enjoy roleplaying are: cyberpunk, fantasy, supernatural/superpowers, apocalypse, real life, and some fandoms; the ones I find myself most drawn to are usually shonen and RWBY. On the other hand, cyberpunk and fantasy are my top two favorites.

Other than roleplay:

- I recently got into Pokemon and played a few games via emulator (currently on Emerald) whilst getting onto the anime!

- Speaking of anime, I'm trying to get myself more involved in watching more of it/rewatching some to refresh my memory (do feel free to drop any recommendations!)

- I'm a gaming hermit, so I rock with my little gaming laptop and Xbox.

- I LOOOOOVE kpop. I'm more geared towards ggs but bgs rock too!

- I'm on an on and off weight loss journey since about 2 years ago and so far, I've shed off about 70 lbs (31-32? kg) and counting!
