This idea has been sitting with me for a while and it would be an interesting experience for me to run a site like this. I'm not a very good roleplay fighter but I've been apart of a fight oriented group in the past. I haven't seen this done in a lot of the places I've looked so I was wondering if people would be interested in this.

It would be a mostly YYH and slightly DBZ inspired roleplay with a light plot that drives the world in the right direction. There would be different "races" such as human, demons, and gods but they would all be able to beat each other just fine as they can in both anime I'd be basing this off of. It would have Earth, Heaven, and Hell though with Earth, I would center it around a single country to make it easier.

As for where I'm stuck... I am not sure what people would prefer in a fighting roleplay. A lot of my concerns are just me thinking ahead.

If they would want a progression system-- how would I handle a catch up mechanic for new players in later stages?
Should I have energy resources? Defined moves? Perks?

If there were no combat systems-- would it be best to let people have free range making their powers? Should there be a banned power list?

Regardless, this site will require a lot of trust in people to not break basic roleplay rules when they fight. That will come with it's own problems but making a site like this, I'd have to be prepared.

If anyone who comes by this thread is interested or even has some tips / ideas for it, let me know! Thank you!

Hmm. I think they're alright. Very basic and not too restrictive. If you add stats like strength abd defense, I would just make like levels for them. So, for instance, the stats would only go up to level 5 or tier 5.

By the source material, I feel like there wouldn't be / shouldn't be magoi gains unless the character grows but that is your decision entirely.

And a tip from my experience staffing the other Magi site before, don't be afraid to let people take roles such as Magi. I found the community really wanted it but they were never given it because the site originally kept them non-playable. Even just some canon roles would be neat. But that just comes from my personal preference.

With the shards, you can keep them if you really want to. I just want you to keep in mind that is what makes the other site unique to the anime / manga as well. They work in a similar fashion. You can collect multiple, they can be stolen, they grant boons upon consume ( such as being led to a powerful magic tool, a mighty legendary beast companion, save your life, etc. ).

But otherwise, I hoped that helped. xD Sorry if I've been sounding rude or harsh. I have no intention to be so.

It sounds... almost exactly like an AU Magi site I used to be deeply apart of. However, not anymore. They had the same concept of the "special shards" which were called "Shards of Solomon". The main thing that caught me before that was the concept of tiers of abilities, traits, etc.

While I'm not berating you for the coincidence and I will dare not ask if you're from or have ever seen the site I speak of. I would just recommend that you change it up a bit more or add more to the table. I'm not sure if the community there would be too happy about it if they discovered the final product. Not trying to bring drama into the conversation but I'm just giving a warning. I'm really not sure how they are now, I just know how they were.

However, I loved that site to pieces and to get a fresh start on a new Magi site would be refreshing for me. It would be refreshing as well to see their systems placed on a new site in a different way and I had a story for my character I would love to recreate and finish. So, I'm interested. : ' )

it says they're able to be styled in the "topic list headers" area but there are no noticeable variables for them that i've seen. i'm not really sure how to edit them but if anyone could lead me in the right direction i'd be grateful because looking at this:

is an eyesore. *sobs*

I'm going to give a bit of constructive advice based off of my personal opinion. You should take it with a grain of salt and only take away what you agree with.

1.) The "Rankings" link and the credit next to it look odd at the top but I believe it can be fixed. Honestly, making the font for it Ubuntu, capitalizing it and centering it would make a huge difference. I think you could do without the credit but if you need it, making it smaller text size and adding it under the link would look better.

2.) Every section should be numbered evenly from 1 to 20 or 1 to 10 so all of the boxes line up to each other. Either that or give them a defined height that is tall enough for everything to line up.

3.) Where it says "Number 1 Hero/Villain/etc." could do with some distinction. I would capitalize them and possibly bold them if possible. I think a nice touch would be to place boxes around them similar to the buttons on your side. There is a third color in your color scheme (#383838) that could fit as a background for those boxes.

4.) A suggestion for the same section as what I mentioned in 3. If you want to minimize the space-- I think you could go with just listing the numbers rather than repeating hero, villain, etc. You already have a header in each section saying what the list is for. However, this is just an idea rather than a suggestion, really.

a yu yu hakusho based roleplay that focuses on tournaments / battles as major plot movements. just kind of a fight heavy site but since i know i am not good at fighting roleplay and i want it to be easily accessible to those who are not as well:

tldr:

> simple stat system that can be upgraded by exp you earn from rp / tournaments.

> actions in fights are determined by rolls. ( so like... a 1d20 for a punch. you roll a 2 but your str stat is 10 so 2+10=12. )

> those actions are written out by the player. the rolls just determine whether you hit or nah. though aside from fighting against an npc-- players can mutually agree to fight each other however they want tbh.

idk if this would be too complicated to set up but i feel like it wouldn't be that bad if i kept the rules more dnd with the stats and kept progression / upgrades preformed in a few steps / simple.

but yeah. it's just an interest check. so. like if you're interested. > A <

I have enough knowledge in both HTML and CSS to be confident enough to make a theme that is all my own. However, I'm not really sure... where to start when building a theme. This question is directed to ProBoards primarily but if you want to give me input for Jcink as well it'd be appreciated!

Do you start with the body and work inwards or do you work outwards?

Do you have a personal preference as a coder?

Are there any tips you can offer me?

Thanks. u v u

The entity inside of her pounded against her head as it echoed her thoughts back to her. She could barely move. Pluto loosened his grip, stepping back from his master. He was unable to keep his mortal form any longer without her support. A large cloud of white smoke enveloped them. The gust that followed kept their lumbering enemies at bay for the moment.

-- Right before I left the site. Such a long time ago and it makes me sad that I won't be able to finish my story. My friend and I lost drive after a bad experience w. the community. T __T

I have to say... my biggest sin is showing a little bit of favoritism at times. Like when I was on my old site as an admin, I used to sneak my friend like... 10 EXP every day because I wanted her to catch up to my character. LOL

I really love it when I see new members join and become interesting in joining. Even if they don't stay, I love the fact that they tried.

And of course, when the members are all happy and enjoying themselves. I love it when the site is active because the members want to be active. The interactions and relationships that develop are beautiful.
