unrelated to the other discussions what do people use to make like. worldbuilding maps and stuff. i have the artistic brain of a peanut and i really don't just want to take japan's honshu island and rearrange it
I used to play a lot with Watabou's generators (city, village, dungeon, etc) or Azgaar's fantasy map generator.

Prague-inspired city (the architecture, the astronomical clock), Belle Epoque + steampunk, warring families and their social hierarchy, arcane users and duelists, scandals, a guild of artisans and its members only known by their monikers, not their names.
I have been thinking about Enotria's trailer and the act and symbolism of ripping off a mask way too much, as well.

I have so much Carlos' art saved, I need to use him as a fc. And I can't wait to play my overworked 42yo werewolf dad in a small town horror setting. He's one of the few ocs I missed the most, but finding the place that felt right for him was difficult.

Venture into the stars
A slice of life taking place in a small desert town full of mysteries and eerie stuff happening around and in the neighboring ghost town. Adults try to ignore the town's reputation, but sometimes paranormal buffs visit because they heard about people vanishing after entering the old mine. On the other hand, some residents are way more concerned about someone finding out their family secrets (was the great-grandma a smuggler?) or stories they want to forget.

Something which is more atmospheric, I guess? And about what could happen if you dig what you shouldn't?

Young exorcists going to special cram schools. Some drop out of HS to focus on exorcism, others stop attending cram schools because their two lives overlap too much. Also in the midst of fighting evil spirits, they have to do rituals and prepare the last banquets to send off the ghosts/spirits into the afterlife. Except some of them keep nagging about the lack of cooking skills and won’t eat.

Also this short story’s plot (kinda a spoiler if you want to read The Ancient Magus’ Bride: The Golden Yarn) :
There’s a strong current of horror running through the stories in The Golden Yarn. It’s most present in Jun’ichi Fujisaku’s “The Man Who Hungered for Trees,” in which the assistant to a genius video game programmer uncovers the sinister roots of his supervisor’s talent. The programmer makes small blood sacrifices to the spirits of marijuana bushes in exchange for energy and inspiration, but the plants are hungry for larger prey. As you might imagine, this doesn’t end well for anyone involved.

i guess i really miss dark settings

anything inspired by the interactive fiction Rent-A-Vice

What doesn't kill you...kills someone else, and leads you down an ethical rabbit hole. In the near future, paying users can rent the "virtual experiences" of other people. These "feeders" sublet their own bodies, at the risk of their own lives, so that customers can safely enjoy extreme, potentially self-destructive vices, like binge eating, cliff diving, or worse.

Rent-a-Vice is a 150,000-word interactive cyberpunk-noir mystery novel, and 2018 Nebula Award for Game Writing Finalist, by Natalia Theodoridou, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

You're a private investigator with a bad habit, an ex, and mountains of debt--troubles so deep that you stand to lose custody of your kid. When a mysterious client asks for your help finding their missing lover in the seamy world of virtual experience, it's up to you to gather evidence, experience the technology for yourself, and solve the case.

Delve into the darkest corners of the clandestine Rent-a-Vice industry. If you believe the etho-politicians, VE compromises the well-being of society, and normalizes vice and disorder. But what are users after? Is it entertainment, or something deeper? And is there anything in it for the feeders, other than profit?

crime sites with a good ratio of criminal threads & mundane ones. Idk maybe i just want some action and to see more characters with antagonistic behaviors corrupt cops?.
