@iota i'm not going to quote your whole post bc it's long but i agree with about half of this. (this is also not an attack, but an opinion on parts of what you said)

i agree with what you said about treating rp as d&d conceptually, the story building and depth of a d&d group can be found within a small rp community. a private rp community can work the same as a d&d session. you could find writing d&d groups, who are all playing d&d but writing out their scenarios like it's rp.

i disagree with relating the love of rp to activity, although i'm not entirely sure if you meant for it to come off that way. i say this mostly because i love rp, and i love writing, but i am most definitely a slow poster because i am in a situation where i realistically do not have time. i'm a full-time college student working somewhere between part and full time and that really doesn't leave me a lot of room to do anything but sleep and homework. i post less than once a month in my favorite thread on my site, but the passion and love for this plot that i'm telling with my rp partner has not diminished. similarly to your site, though, the site i coadmin reflects this expectation in activity. plots are still moving -- they're just moving slower, and people clearly still have the passion for the stories they want to tell because we've been open for a very long time.

your site caters to people who love to rp, but want to do it at a fast pace. the site i coadmin caters to people who love to rp, but want to do it with the option of a slow pace. there is nothing wrong with either scenario -- we both created communities who love rp but have different wants or needs from activity. this brings me to a point in your post that i'm going to quote because i agree with this statement the most:

When you treat RP as a fun and positive hobby your particular group is likely going to cater to a select group of individuals of like mind and interest.

for some people, they make time for their hobby once or many times a week and do it diligently. for other people, they find time for their hobby once or twice a month and still enjoy it just the same. in the end it's all about the same thing: finding a community that fits you, loves you, and accepts you. if you can find that then everything else just falls into place.

Not to be ""that guy"" but this game franchise is only one of many examples of this supposedly plagerized idea. Some more are Legend of Korra, maybe some aspects of The Golden Compass, and literally a metric boatload of other books, comics, tv shows and movies. A lot of these maybe aren't 90% similar to your site but you can't trademark a concept like this. You don't see me barking down every open-lore modern fantasy set-in-a-fictional-city's door because -- again -- the concept that makes CT unique is not a concept that i nor valka payed to be trademarked and therefore we do not own it.

back when CT first opened as CCR i made it a habit to sit down every night and read each app so that i'd be able to plot with the members comfortably, but i quickly burned myself out bc of how many members joined within the first month of opening. now where there are 190 accepted characters running around on the site, i can comfortably say that i've only read the applications of the characters i've accepted with some exceptions. i feel moderately bad about it but ; u ; i don't have that kind of time.

context: where i work i have a resident who will tell me random facts every day. about anything. sometimes multiple times a day. it varies on level of weird and outrageous but today was something that i think is about the most 'mood' statements:

"if i had a normal sleeping schedule i'd be a danger to society."

same buddy. same.

when asking questions - just be honest! "Hey, I read through everything, but I may have missed this, so I just want to be sure?" is going to come across a lot better and more understandable than "Hey, spoon feed me all of the information that I'm supposed to read".

this is the Type TM i was trying to pin down and i've found in my experience that it's pretty easy to pinpoint when someone is the "i may have read this and just missed over it" or "i'm a baby bird feed me" type. it's either in the type of question or the reception of the question -- being asked things like "is this site x genre" when the words "X GENRE" are plastered all over the site is the type of person i'm getting at. ; u ; if i get even the smallest feeling that some new member asking repetitive questions actually read the information, i'll answer it for them 30 different ways.

just pls put in the effort to read the info that we've taken the time to write up and i'll literally bend over backwards for you im srs

i just wanted to elaborate and highlight this bc i can see how my point could have been like ANY question that can be traced back to x paragraph of y thread is a waste of my time-- it's not that way i promise

it like actually hurts my heart to know that while taking the stitches out of my cat, she bit me in the face bc i was holding her paws back while my grandma tried to quickly snip her stitches out but like-- she didn't bite me hard enough to even really hurt?? it was like a "i am very uncomfortable with this and would HIGHLY appreciate being let go right now" bite and like qq my cat of a month trusts me enough to not hurt me when i'm clearly putting her through a lot of discomfort.

the fact that she was a stray and we've only had her for maybe a month now is the really hurting part i love her so much
