i highly recommend jeannette mccurdy's book "i'm glad my mom died". she doesn't name schneider by name, but he comes up quite often, as well as talking about both the experiences she had of filming on icarly and sam & cat and it's.................bad.

the book itself is great tho. quick and fast read, and she narrates the audiobook herself. it's really well done.
it's been on my tbr forever. my sibling said they'd buy the book, so i didn't go on the waitlist, but i don't know if that ever happened, whoops.

So my only concern is that adding a playable zone for every character apped will lead to a lot of locations, very quickly. Maybe the zones could exist IC but only get a specific board for their zone if the player is sufficiently active with the character?

Also my next question: would canons with RL basis be allowed if fanart is used? I.e. Star Wars characters that are from the live action films? This is more out of curiosity than anything.

eh i don't have nostalgia for the heyday of forums. sure, there were more forums made, but how many of those lasted longer than a month? how many of those saw satisfying story arcs? a lot of the old forums were made seemingly so that popular FCs could be used by the admins, and they died horrid deaths. well, more quiet deaths because the next forum had opened up.

there are fewer forums now, but it feels like the ones we have last a lot longer. i like that a lot more, especially as i grow tired of restarting storylines.

second edit to say i was not exempt from making forums just to make forums back then and joining more forums than i could reasonably stay active on lmao.

If you don't mind smaller panfans, Guardian Weyr is a decently active, albeit small, community. We have Nahida open currently. We are part of the Pern genre, which involves having occasional "hatchings"-- events where you can get your own specially created dragon companion for your character.

We are not illustrated exclusive (we have a few live action canons, though we are largely illustrated canons). We also allow OCs, and we allow members to create important NPCs.

i feel like my compromise is that i'm done with random rp.

like i'm done with throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. i'm going to focus on making my communities as strong as possible, and when they fade, i'm probably only going to join sites if want ads appeal to me.

it's not playing with new people that i hate. it's playing with new people when our characters have no common grounds of connection, making plotting obnoxious and forced. i absolutely love meeting new people and getting the hang of new parts of the hobby-- that part has never been bad to me. i'm just tired of meaningless nonsense.

tl;dr public rp fine if i can play a want ad or canon with connections in the rp.
