3. Using fanart even with credits is a very grey area already. I will never say it’s completely okay without explicit permission from the artist, which isn’t always feasible. I think that’s already toeing the fine line, and we try to give as much as we take by linking. And when people see the fanart i am using, i can go, “yeah this artist made it! They’re awesome!” But what do you do with ai art? Oh, i generated it with this and this prompt, thanks to the indefinite images it has learned from.

Saying we’re already doing the same thing as ai art and “stealing” is insane. Stealing is literally taking credit but you can’t even claim ai art. No one can. It’s an amalgamation of stolen techniques.

If you’re pressed on using ai art, who can stop you if you’re convinced it’s okay. But don’t put it at the same level as we are doing. In the past, we didn’t even credit. We didn’t care. But now we are trying to show more support to artists. Content creators are insistent on credits. People always try to leave credits in comments. There are various sources used to find an image’s source to find a proper credit. We are trying to improve and go forward.

Ai art is an attack on that.

I know they’re both using human input to learn. But i still don’t get how they can be on the same level, especially for rping.

RPing is mostly writing, and graphics is just a vanity part of it. You have the option to look for art. It doesn’t have to be great. If it bothers you, you can spend the bare minimum of hunting art, leaving likes, until you find what you like. Or, if it really matters to you: commission an artist. There is no sort of push whatsoever that should encourage you to use ai art.

For chatgpt, like i said, i didn’t even know it was an issue in rpc. I’m not sure how you took my comment because i was genuinely wondering what the rpc’s beef with chatgpt is all about.

I have no idea how you see chatgpt the same as ai art. Nor do i even know that rpc had a stand about chatgpt lol. The posts i’ve seen of people rping with chatgpt looked like very lonely folks who are getting too deep into something they know is wrong.

Writers quietly supporting ai art (generated from countless of artists without permission) is tragic. You have the power to draw countless, unique pictures with your words, and somehow you are happier with a final product that is soulless, having skipped through the entire process of what makes art, art.

nothing is worth stealing off the hard work of other people, not even your idealized vision for the sake of your hobby. Just use aesthetics, of be satisfied with using the same crop. If you’re bothered that much for using the same graphics, it’s worth learning to just let it go and be satisfied

There’s no acceptable reason at all to use a machine that rips off the work of artists without their permission whatsoever

Edit: better yet, commission an artist to draw your ideal art if it matters that much to you
