For my characters' avatars & hovers I tend to pick images that lean on the animanga art style as much as possible. I generally avoid using more realistic sakimichan-esque artwork, because while those are very well-drawn, I find the difference in style kinda jarring. I usually browse through hundreds of images until I find the one that's the highest quality and/or fits the character best imo. For example, if my character is supposed to be broody, I don't wanna pick an image where their FC is shown smiling.

It is a good feeling! Generally I've found that most people are cooperative if you politely explain what needs to be adjusted and why. Occasionally, though, you'll run into those people that give up on an app or even quit the site if their character doesn't get accepted as is, and that's a sucky feeling, especially if the character they were working on looked really neat. Then again, if someone gives up on a character app just because a mod requested some changes to better fit within the site setting, they probably weren't that committed to playing that character anyway.

I LOVE sites that don't have a word count. Yes, I consider that a feature. It's so liberating being able to write for the fun of it and not feeling like I have to add pointless fluff to my post just to sate the fickle word counter.

I wish someone told me that people leaving RPs or ghosting you is just a fact of life and it's not necessarily because of something you did.

The second half speaks to me on a spiritual level! I keep telling myself "Alright I think I've covered all my bases" and then immediately think "But what if I haven't?" and then wrack my brain trying to figure out what terrible crime against humanity I have committed when there's usually none.

Ever write a character who has the most unga bunga brain possible and they somehow end up having the most emotional scenes?

To anyone running an RP forum, I'm curious, how often do you advertise on other sites? Do you spam every First Link board in existence, or do you prioritize resource sites and forums with high traffic? Do you bump your ads in sites that allow bumping? At which point do you decide you've done enough advertising? Have you clicked so many pictures with traffic lights/fire hydrants you begin to think you might be turning insane? Or am I the only one who thinks that?
