So I noticed there was a few other cyberpunk/futuristic-related ic threads lying around so I thought that I can help bring more scifi to the animanga world because we need more of it. /finger guns


OVERVIEW

Tripwire is an upcoming premium project on Jcink that takes elements of neo-noir, cyberpunk, dystopian, and a hint of fantasy. It draws inspiration from various medias and entertainment for both lore and events; from lesser known sources such as Rogue Company, Perfect Match, and S4 League to more familiar products such as the Fallout series, Batman, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA franchise, Hitman franchise, Arcane, and Arknights. Prior knowledge of any of these franchises are not at all necessary in order to understand what's going on, but instead a small bonus to catch on some references.

The general premise of Tripwire surrounds a world where science pushed the human race to new heights at the cost of humanity itself; The reliance on mechanics and robotics with the likes of public transportation, manual labor, and other jobs that've helped made the world go round with human interference; the spike in cosmetic addiction due to cybernetic implants granting the ability to achieve beauty that the human eye have never seen that birthed disturbing mental effects from said implants. This caused the economy from the glamor and galore crashing in 2018, forcing to rely on a particular corporation that was one of the pioneers of making "the future" happen: MIYAKI, a megacorporation based in Japan.

MIYAKI views America, one of the most powerful nations, as a testing site for their operation: PRSRV (pronounced "preserve"); a project that had one goal: control the human race; with such a flawed species that have damned the world into sin with their free will, they must be controlled and create a controlled utopia where such harm to both the planet and its inhabitants. Those with an immense amount of wealth won't be subjected to the process.

This involved a virus created by MIYAKI called Jackal that would spread in hopes of infecting the entire American population, only to infect just a faction of the population. Those infected were dubbed the same name as the virus. They were humanoids with traits related to animals, mythical beings, and legendary creatures; they also gained powers, creating different types of powered Jackals who can spread the virus, infecting humans into their own kind. To the MIYAKI's surprise, they had no control over the Jackals.

With no trace of evidence leading the virus to the corporation, the MIYAKI have created anti-Jackal propaganda and have officially labeled them as threats to not just the country, but to humans as a whole. This sparked racism, political strained relations, and oppression while the corporation continues to hide their trail.


SETTING

The year is 2091. MIYAKI have created a new city in New York and declared it the new capital of America: Nirie; a city that came to life around 2030 after the economy crash in 2018. Because MIYAKI has a large amount of power that can potentially overthrow the government, Nirie acts as a city-state, meaning it functions differently from the rest of the country with a separate government-esque faction that's controlled by MIYAKI. Nirie was titled "The City of Opportunity" as demonstrated by neon lights and fancy technology that was only found in the city when it first rose from the ground. Now it's not only known as "The City of Dreams and The City of Nightmares You Wish You Can Wake Out Of", but also "The Worst City To Live in America". What was once a city filled with promises and can guarantee the American Dream was a mask that revealed criminality and a thirst for blood.

Nirie is divided into two main districts; Reigh, a district known for housing the rich or anyone that can afford the luxurious lifestyle in any way possible, and Nirie, a district for the middle classes and lower.

FACTION/GROUPS

Because Nirie is rich of many things, factions are one of them. From gangs to megacorp based organizations, there's a variety of factions that have helped morph what Nirie is. Here are the names of the factions to look forward to (these factions and their names are subjected to change and removal as well as potentially adding more groups):



JACKALS

Jackals, mentioned above, are humanoids with irregular physical traits that are usually animalistic, related to mythical creatures/legends with superpowers from the virus of the same name. From the virus, every Jackal has a mental disorder called "Jackalpsychosis" which throws them in psychotic episodes. The frequency and the duration of these episodes can vary. Jackals can also infect humans via bite, overall making them a threat to society.
