I respect he isn't your preference but imo they're not even same ballpark.
He'd be...a Mary Sue on like...a human level where he's exceptionally good at things and virtuous.

At least he doesn't have even the gods being like "ah yes thank u for teaching me everything" lol. Rover feels like she's not even one step away from being *walks into a room and everyone falls in love with me*.

At least even the most Mary Sue Genshin characters still struggle with things. I love WuWa designs but there are 0 stakes because a magical solution will float out of my hand.

it’s the curse of mc characters in gacha games. originally wuwa had it where when rover met the starting three girls, two of them were suspicious of rover and even held rover at gun point because of how strange they were. and also abandoned rover instead of taking them to the city. but supposedly in CN a lot of people disliked this β€œhostility” towards the mc, so it ended up getting change to what it is now. im no gacha expert but it seems like it’s preferred if mcs are loved by everyone and are β€˜just that good’. which is essentially pushing the self insert and this is my β€˜harem’ agenda.

here's my two cents. if you don't want people making 10+ characters in a short time, despite having "post requirements" or "x points for another character slot" then implement a cooldown system. essentially if a member makes a character they can't make another character for x amount of time. yes, some people will hate this, think it's limitative but as many people have stated there's no easy solve for this. otherwise i think just talking to your members about how apps are going to be processed slower because you're feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of apps, especially for already accepted members. like i feel staff folk forget they can talk to their members, sure you'll have bad eggs who will grumble but i'm sure most will understand cause at the end of the day a staffer and member are the same, we're here to have fun and write characters.

as for fc hoarding, honestly it should be the norm by now but that there can be multiple characters with the same fc aka "sharing a fc". but honestly i don't think fc hoarding is an issue, it's "seeing the same fc all the time". which can not be solved because the favor of the year changes. if you're tired of seeing the same fc used site after site, that is a you problem. people are going to use what they like at the time and you can't control that. all you can do is not interact with the 77th zhongli look-alike.

i do believe character hoarding is an issue, which is more so panfan related. like it sucks looking to join a site and that one person has three of the most popular characters in a single fandom. kinda my peeve for older sites, but it's my own personal fault for joining late i suppose.

Hotline Miami & Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Iconic games in my opinion. All enemies and you die in one hit in this game, making the levels tense. 15 hours for the first, 9 hours the second.
also added bonus: the soundtracks for both games are phenomenal. it’s synth wave bops. which another game similar to it is party hard. your neighbors are having a loud party and well you got to β€œdeal” with the party goers. there’s a party hard 2.

I don't know if it be considered underrated since it's just over a year old, but it's among my fav games: Killer Frequency. Yea, yea it's a spooky game and I definitely should stop drinking the horror juice. But anyways it's not scary and is simply a puzzle-story game where you're a radio host that has to help callers survive the night. The game has a bunch of easter eggs related to spooky movies and the game is a solid vibe for chilling.

Another game which I'm sure is definitely underrated is, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. It's a walking stimulator game with absolutely lovely music and atmosphere. It's a bit spooky in the sense you're trying to figure out what happened to everyone in the town because they all disappeared. Otherwise it's a typical story game. I will admit it is a bit slow pace, like I mention walking stimulator but if you're fine with that and enjoy looking at scenery then you might enjoy it. It's a very pretty game for 2016, at least I think so.

idk if this goes here but i swear i saw a site ad, now it's nowhere to be seen and i feel like i imagined it. but a site center around a 90s summer camp with campy horror/general supernatural horror vibes taking inspiration mainly from friday the 13th and tidbits of sleepaway camp, slotherhouse etc.

but like idk, writing posts is easy and apps is annoying? It's fucking annoying to write a backstory/personality/powers section for a character when you can wiki that stuff. As a result, the RP doesn't require writing samples for OCs but does require a backstory/personality section for them b/c you can't just wiki that.

you can argue ANY app is exclusionary. have to write a history before you're accepted? Get rejected because the history doesn't fit the lore? Isn't that the same exact concept? Isn't that treating the space like a hobby and not a job? What about when you have to describe every single nuance of your characters' powers, even when it's easily found on google? because someone can't just google "what does the force in star wars do" and you're pended three different times to explain it better?

i vastly prefer being told "hey just write a simple post about how you plan to play the character" or "write a plotter for your character" to being told "so we need every single minutae." Canons are easier to write than OCs in this setting because it's really easy to capture a canon's voice in a single post compared to writing a personality/history section for a character I've never written.

i think the logic of "just wiki/google it" is not intuitive. maybe if it's just you and one person, sure fine it works but not in a group setting. consider an app like how guidebooks are used nowadays. before you would have several tabs open, on several posts around the site just to get the basic information. i know in a thread on pixel that talked about guidebooks people like them because the information is all one section. a character app should be the same, it gives individuals a quick access to who your character is. a wiki should be used if the person reading over your character wants to learn a little more about your character that isn't in your app.

personally i argue if you're rejected because your history doesn't line up with site's lore, then why are you joining? like it's only fair to have your character's backstory make sense in what the setting is. most would get upset if a group is playing medieval knights and then there's that one individual bringing in a cyberpunk hacker. sure that's more of the extreme, if it's something else like some minor detail i'd ask why it doesn't fit or how i can change it to fit better. because overall you're joining their site and if you really want to join, you'd be okay with switching/removing something (if it's reasonable). but if even then you're rejected despite changing as they suggested or explaining in simple words, at that point it isn't you and just the staff not wanting you to join. which is your red flag right there.

overall it boils down to preference and if you're willing to put time into joining a site. if you're under the 'this feels more like a job', whether it's writing a sample post or plugging in history, i'd say you're not really invested in joining said site. roleplaying is about having fun and passion in writing a character, the more passionate you're about a character the more willing you'll set aside time and put up with things for that said character. (of course this is under the impression of excluding irl ordeals.)
