i got sisters of mercy tickets for me and my bestie for stupid cheap and i am just so excited!!!!!!! i've wanted to see them for years. i've heard they're supposed to be godawful live, so my expectations are low- but at least i'll finally be able to say that i've seen them AND cop legit merch for once LN-SFAFKJOG[
keep us posted.

tbh it's so easy to get tickets for bands that are influential and popular but not suuuuper popular. i got to see primus recently.
did you enjoy them? i saw primus open for tool like almost a decade ago already, and that was my introduction to the band. big fan of tommy the cat

welcome friend! that's so cool that you're a researcher! if you don't mind me asking, what kind of research do you do? i know you said "bio", so i'm assuming something involving......biology lmao
Yeah research can be pretty cool! You're right to assume I'm doing research in biology, specifically my group is studying how to treat aging diseases like Alzheimer's or cancer by looking at the genome of the naked mole rat. That's the quick and dirty version of it xD
that's actually really cool. alzheimers and dementia run on BOTH sides of my family so you are truly doing the work my friend, ty

i think if i went vegan, i'd still eat eggs.

the thing is, if it's for ethical reasons, the way i buy eggs rn is ethical. the chickens are free-range and kept by a woman who sees them as companions. I've seen the chickens, i buy their eggs usually the day they're laid. chickens kept in good conditions just make a lot of eggs that won't ever hatch, so it's pretty okay to eat them. i get for people who don't live in rural areas, this is a bit harder to do, and commercial eggs are from chickens that are mistreated. but if you've ever lived in a rural area, you know that people who take good care of their chickens often have more eggs than they know what to do with.
honestly there's a lot about veganism that doesn't sit right with me- and this is one of those things. the black and white "no animal products, no matter what" is not only like. not feasible for a majority of people, but also a lot of things that are geared towards vegans are like. comically bad for the environment or have a reputation for having abusive labor practices. the one that really gets me are the clothing materials. like "vegan" leather is comically bad for the environment, and whether we like it or not, sheep literally have to be sheared. oftentimes animal hides or pelts are significantly higher quality (leather, wool, etc) even last a lot longer than the synthetic stuff.

buy leather and wool secondhand if it makes you feel better! but honestly i feel like it's more ethical to do things like you're doing! eating eggs from someone who you know takes good care of her pets is far more ethical than buying say, a vegan leather purse that inevitably ends up in a landfill in 2 years bc it's garbage and broke easily.

i have A Lot of thoughts about veganism as someone who was plantbased at one point in their lives. sometimes i think about giving it another shot (i fucked up last time and made myself very sick bc i was a stupid 19 year old) but i dunno man. i'd miss cheese.

possible ideas:
- urban fantasy but set in the distant past or future
- sci-fi fantasy horror nonsense, something akin to like dune and the hyperion cantos
- zambies. i just love a good zombie or apoc site in general tbh
- urban fantasy inspired by the highlander series- where everyone is immortal and have been thrown into this shitbox city to fight each other to the death
- multimedia panfan aboard an old derelict space station that seems to be alive
- panfandom based on/inspired by borderlands
- elder scrolls inspired fantasy
- warriors, but if it was also GoT flavored

having adhd is realizing that no, not everyone wakes up with at least one song (but often several at once, usually with similar titles) stuck in your head the moment you wake up. what's it like not having a busted up jukebox for a brain

for me, writing is all about the melodrama and being someone else. almost all of what i enjoy writing is like, opposite of anything i am capable of doing or even experienced; good or bad (see: the ability to drive LMAO)

but also for me, getting to be apart of other people's stories has been important for my writing process. some of my best characters, some of which i still use to this day, started out as wanted ads at one point. but i love getting to be that evil dad from your character's history. there's probably some deep psychological reason for why i enjoy playing the worst middle aged man you know, but everybody has a niche.........i guess?

anyway some of my fav tropes/plots/subjects to write about include:
  • unhealthy/toxic family dynamics (specifically like, the emotionally distant father figure and their angry child. chef kiss)
  • codependent and independently bad people
  • sunshine & stormcloud partners
  • deeply flawed people in general tbh. some of my favorite characters are the blatant mustache twirling supervillains, but i also love a deeply flawed morally gray character.
  • "how do we handle our shared trauma together when neither of us have been perfect people?"
