nox, the HR department Avatar
is it just me or has zerochan gone like extremely downhill recently??
pls recommend alternatives
i prefer safebooru because they tend to have direct links to the sources rather than having to enter the ID on pixiv. especially useful for twitter artists.

tbh looking at the prices of pay-to-use skins and wondering if i should go that route (average price is like 60$)

or instead offer the skins as half-completed, make the sale exclusive, and finish the skin with customization for the customer. it would absolutely cost more, but would "400$ for a mostly-designed skin with alterations available based on your site concept" fly with people? esp if i gave the right to sell the skin again should u not want it anymore?

shrugs

Hello, let me introduce Guardian Weyr a bit. We're a panfandom isekai set on the world of Pern, written by Anne McCaffery. Knowledge of the setting isn't super mandatory, and we're willing to help you with the growing pains of adjusting to the setting. Basically, it's a dragon bonding panfandom, and we're small but active and dedicated.

While there plenty of plotting opportunities open for characters from all fandoms, the specific character we're looking for someone to play is Kaworu from Neon Genesis Evangelion. We already have Asuka, Shinji, and Rei (currently a WIP but we'll have her soon). We're looking to complete our set!

Should note that our Shinji player does like Kawoshin, but does not specifically want a partner who only is in it to RP Only Kawoshin or exclusively with the NGE kids. We're looking for someone who is interested in vibing with our small and welcoming community as a whole.

As a note, we'll also play with any other Evangelion characters anyone wants to make. Our interpretations come specifically from the original series, though, and not the rebuilds, so Mari might not have the same connection to the other pilots. We are down for timeline shenangigans, where Mari can recognize the other characters, but they wouldn't recognize her.

Should also note that our pilots are 16. We've had some time pass since the Third Impact. Our pilots' investment in Pern is because they don't have a home to go back to. How Kaworu feels is up to you, though.

i'm starting to really appreciate small sites tbh.

the panfan i'm running, if it stays small, will need fewer and fewer restrictions as we go on because i don't have to reserve things for new members if we're not getting new members. excited for it tbh.
Having a smaller memberbase also makes it easier to run events, activity checks, etc. It's also nice being able to memorize all players and characters' names since there is a finite number of them. However, I get extremely nervous thinking what will happen when/if we lose our most active posters and have to find a replacement.
that is absolutely true tbh. if you lose key members, plots just fall apart and go nowhere. though you can always have looser activity requirements so that those members can come back whenever.

i just appreciate not having to do half the things large sites *need* to do. and like i'm not saying doing those things is a bad thing. if you're a site that gets several new members a week, you do have to do things like limit popular canons or run post-based activity checks. but man, it's so nice to have that stress.

If you don't mind being transported into a fandom world and the presence of OCs, Guardian Weyr might suit! We allow non-2D canons-- I even play one who does use a non-Hollywood FC (she's Broadway but still Not Hollywood). We do actually have a heroic group that was responsible for ending the Eldritch representation of Entropy, and an upcoming plot where these heroes might have to find a way to banish an undead king who possesses people. We do require staff permission for massive property destruction, as there will be plots around rebuilding.

We plan to alternate between "slice of life" periods-- where the focus is around festivals, people, and just existing on Pern-- and major plot elements-- such as fighting the Ruined King. The alternating events are to prevent burnout and allow for development of the world, rather than just Conflict All The Time, but also give characters something to Do.

You do not need to have a dragon on Guardian Weyr, and we're more than happy to get started with potential plots c:.

Below is the link, as Proboards is weird about external links.

the fact that kingdom hearts as a series doesn't patronize its audience with difficulty options despite being for children, while also committing solid game design choices, remains a reason why that series is one of the best. just beat Xaldin on critical and hoo boy it is a fun game.

freeform pokemon site that isn't strictly slice-of-life or system-led at all.

one that does focus on the structure offered in the games, but from a different perspective: instead of playing just beginner trainers, we are allowed to play people on various points in life with pokemon.

it's hard to explain exactly what i want, but absolutely zero rules about starting mons (except for maybe limitations on shinies and legendaries, that's reasonable) and no rules about how your character "levels up."

i actually do want the games structure because i enjoy playing the drama of being a professional trainer. i basically want to take a cynthia-level powerful character and make all their threads about their hopeless love life, if that makes sense? i want to focus on gym leaders gossiping about each other, about professional battle tower trainers lamenting how much work keeping their teams competitive is over a spa day, and play the retired trainers who couldn't keep a spotlight now running businesses. a focus less on the battling aspect and more about the economic/social aspect of pokemon training as a sport.

like people can play battles if they want, because those can be fun to write. but idk i find the issue with system-based sites that don't reward on general post count is that i only have limited time for RP and if i'm rewarded for certain threads but not others...

a pokemon site without a system, without pokemon limits, without excessive rules, that has room for both battle plots and slice-of-life plots because it's not so focused on catching new pokemon but still allows people to RP some battles when they feel like it.

needs two of the three: canons allowed, not on proboards, allows original art claims.

i don't want a strict slice-of-life pokemon site but i want there to be room for my non-route characters if that makes sense? and taking away any sort of system or rules about how to catch pokemon usually leads to people playing around not-pokemon-stuff. people only have so much energy to post and if you're dumping all your energy into training Pokemon in ur posts...
