Wish this was around 10 years ago. I think my Mandarin has deteriorated so much at this point I'd be considered a novice :(

my friendo I am the same ;'( if my education didn't screw my mandarin away I think i wouldn't have needed to do this orz

but hey new year new me-- if you want to get it back, it's only a matter of picking it up again! if you wanna try practicing by writing then you're free to join! I say around intermediate but i actually mean it like.. as long as you're not still (just) learning your pinyin/hiragana ha ha ha. ultimately I'm just looking for committed learners, aye...

writing wise, totes can be a beginner with ya๏ผ ๆˆ‘่‡ชๅทฑไนŸๅพˆๅทฎๅ•Šใ€‚ใ€‚ใ€‚

JP:CN is now 3:1 if everything goes well! Even out the odds with meeee

A bump for this!

Quick recap: looking for Japanese/Mandarin learners to form a cozy study group with so we can push each other to hell! By writing! with Tears!

More info quote'd here:

Some RP Language Study Group?!

Hello! This might be a weird wanted-ad, but here's to hoping I find some people. Look at me trying to find smtg niche in another niche hobby, hahahahahaha.

Looking for: (near) intermediate Mandarin or Japanese learners to write with who are also interested to write some Xianxia/Wuxia setting! ... Though the latter isn't a must, more on that later.

Anyway! Since this is entirely for learning purposes, I'd like to explicitly mention that I'm not looking for total beginners or (near) native speakers! This is simply so that I (or we) don't end up blinding people with grammatical errors... I've already done that to the RPC when I was 12 with my english so hehe. Also because: since we're learning, I think most of us are afraid of making mistakes, so... hopefully, by encouraging mistakes, we also encourage more practice.

For more info about my level (as well as the expected proficiency):

My JP right now is somewhere around N3, trying to claw towards N1 by this year. If you take JLPT, then you should also notice by now that they don't prepare us to write/speak... so this is an effort to fix that hole, ya! My joke thought is how we can ttly practice keigo, but with an RP scenario so it's less cumbersome, more fun (oh my god i hate it though)

Currently taking a speaking-only JP class, but will 100% regress to caveman-speak when panicking. Reading level is about 'Ascendance of the Bookworm'.

For CN, I'm too lazy to get myself certified but I can speak it fluently as long as you don't throw business terms in. I'm working on my reading right now, and ็žŽๅจ˜ๅจ˜ seems to be about my level. Still have to poke at words 30% of the time for their pinyin though.

For both languages, I'm mainly frustrated by how I'm able to read/understand but when it comes to writing a story? Blanking out. The stuff I learned flew away. So this is to partially fix that, yah!

--

If you're already a serious learner but just not near intermediate, I think it should still be fine! Hopefully we still get to write a simple coffee shop thread but if not, if there's enough people, then it can be some cool study discord group? Looove those.

More on the platform and general muse:

The platform will be on private (semi) sandbox JCINK/Discord depending on how things go! My muse right now is currently anything eastern(chinese)-themed, but it's not a hard must. I also tend to gravitate towards MxM or FxF as long as there's a healthy dose of angst and toxicity building the ship(preferably perpetuated by both parties! so there's room for growing for both ykyk!!).

Friendship/Family plots are also my jam, but I've not had much luck regarding those. I also have a few specific muse? Like a lazy shopkeeper, belligerent warrioress from a previous war, stuff like that! Generally, not picky!

ATM, there is a plot/worldbuilding already written out, but it's not necessary to use it? So think sandbox in the worst(? best?) case scenario! We can do both anyway o3o

Before this gets too long, if this interests you, please send me a private message on this account! Though I'll answer anything anywhere if you need more info 0v0b No people limit for this rn because the more the merrier, and I don't think I'm going to find many with such a specific condition... inb4 i just take in anyone who wants to rp eastern fantasy w/ me.

Oh, and if you're wondering why I'm asking PP instead of some language forum, it's the same answer as why I won't introduce my twitter fan account to any of my fb contacts. :yikes:

Thank you for reading!!

Currently we're at Japanese:Mandarin, 2:1. Fight. Might go bug some people I know for this, but for now this is a public (interest) search for the ones hiding out there \o/

As someone who has had similar happen (loss of sight/hearing/sensation of touch, but not fully unconscious) on numerous occasions, it's understandably very spooky, but genuinely the thing that helps me the most is laying down, slowly drinking water, and not doing much else until sensation mostly returns. This is to say - if you're scared about something medical, it's always good to get help, but don't beat yourself up too much in this case because your backup plan is what someone else in your shoes would do/has done. ;u;b

;o; i will keep that in mind, hopefully the next time it never happens!! it was the first time something like that ever happened to me so fr i thought i was gonna die ha ha ha i was so wary of moving after that, so i definitely got that laying down part locked down!! ...will work on maybe calling a sibling and having them stay on the line, maybe. that's prolly less dramatic than a whole ass ambulance at our doorstep ha ha ha

i hope you don't have to go through it so much though!! i'm sure it still always feel spooky no matter how many times it happens, everything was just shutting down xox

losing vision + blacked out + can't hear anything + help I've fallen and I can't get up + feeling like losing consciousness + scared af but do I call the ambulance? family? no. let's not be so extra and dramatic ok?? wait it out in bed.

am realizing my stupidity... one day I'm gonna be found dead in my own room... hopefully in a presentable state...

found it hard to fill up 5 instances of good vibes so I'll just try to make a game plan going forward.

1. find the foolproof method to plot meaningful stories that both writers can love -- equally. passive plotters burn me out the most so... plan rn is to stop hoping for much if they don't even try to lead the plotting/offer ideas ig...

2. be an overall better person by next year. mentally, communicatively, in terms of positive vibes, etc. be back to how I was before I came back from my rp hiatus -- someone eager to make new friends, learn more about people, if only a bit naively. though I think that's kinda hard now

3. code a skin, code two skins, code three. stop being so lazy and try to spin it as :sparkles: minimalist :sparkles: whether or not I release it doesn't matter. I like to do it, and it's honestly the only thing that's making me still want to stay (aside from super good plots and ships but that's always uncertain)

4. find my place in this whole mess. I've been through three friends groups that ended in gaslighting, ultimatums, and more ultimatums in that order, in a row, so idk what does that tell me. really don't want to get cornered in some gc again lmao

5. stand up for myself? stop trying to keep the peace at the expense of myself. this is still an rp goal because... er. only online people ever treat me this way. irl I have my rbf to protect me hehe (until people get to know me then they bully me affectionately, but never crossing the line ha). additionally, stand up for myself without exploding because of accumulated stress/nerves/fear. TIL emotional delay is a thing and that CALM is a big fat lie

6. .... have fun, preferably with people :pained: I alr know how to enjoy my time alone, but this is a community-based hobby so... here's to hoping.

7. SEVEN LUCKY NUMBER SO HAVE FUN NUMBER TWOOOOO

idk if it's much of a confession per se but i used to have a philosophy that any animanga fc i used, i had to watch the anime. which was how i watched kakumeiki valvrave and honestly it changed my life.

actual confession: if there's multiple vocaloids or league fcs, it's probably my fault. i just think they're neat.
HEY MOOD.

any gacha fcs i use that i really like, i make it a point to actually get them in-game. idk. it feels like i'd have more /right/ to use them that way ha ha

though i think that might be more because i'm attracted by their designs, so i wanna know more about them. worth.

Yeah, I've mostly been doing the coding thing during the weekends mostly. And then occasionally building out things after work just so I don't lose touch with coding in general. But seriously it feels like it never ends though. Between the templates, and the other things too. It's so in depth though @_@

make a list! to do list, with checks or percentages. break it down to smaller tasks so that you get the little dose of achievements as you go-- and before u know it you'll be done!

fool proof method I use for work whenever I just. can't. makes skinning seem more manageable too when I see the list getting smaller and smaller. fr it gets bleak when the perceived workload is never changing oof
