tbh between discord rp becoming popular and various other reasons, I think people are waaaay too worried that forum rp is dying.

Reminds me of how people cry that their favorite online video game is dying just because a different game is more popular at the moment.

It’s rarely true.

1. Best friend / love interest (slow burn if it goes that route) for Branwen. Someone who has always embraced Branwen's creative side and they probably did a lot of stuff together, such as make-up or hair dye and random nights out that were fun, remained friends and helped her when she got turned into a vamp when attending a party. Probably the first person she came out to as nb when they were younger, as well as someone can handle her at her most bitchy and snarky. While it’s not mandatory, I do see the best friend as also have a creative career or aspiration. Possibly music or art or something like that.


2. Frustrated exe/party friend that may or may not still have feelings for Chihaya.

Need I really say more for an explanation? He’s super flirty and outgoing and friendly but the fuck-ups are always his fault. My dude has commitment issues fierce, and tends to ditch people and things as soon as he gets bored. It could be interesting whichever way we go — whether antagonistic or trying to make it work, but oh boy will that be a tough workload and a long road ahead of you.


3. Solaceon parents!! This one’s a bigger plot that’s spread across several members on the site but it is still quite important and also quite involved with the site as well. This one has a few appearance and species requirements but not too many.

We require the father, and if you like playing morally bankrupt characters - man is this the guy for you! He’s a strict hunter that specializes in werewolves but hates all creatures equally, strict and militant on his children, and comes from a long line of hunters as well. He’s trying to eradicate wolves in general, and has even experimented on his wife to try and see if his children will succeed and be human, as well as feeds his kids potions and drugs to suppress the chance they are a wolf should the genetics have swung this way. His hair must be black or brunette.

We also require the mother (the wolf subtype of werewolf) who was kidnapped and ended up trauma bonding to the father. She was from a family pack, and it is assumed the rest of them had been killed off by the father. Currently due to current events, she is being held at home by the father. She has red hair, and it is only her daughter (that I play) who has inherited it.

Together they have five children, four are boys and only one is a daughter. Currently the brothers are all trying to track each other and their sister down, after she transformed to reveal she got the wolf genetics. Keep in mind these parents would have to be older since their kids are adults, and were native to Norway.


4. Adopted orphan.

This last want ad is for a child (13 - 15 age range) that my character, Lily has adopted. She was a hunter who recently got trapped during a Hunt and got turned into a vampire. The reason she ended up taking in this child is because she knew his mother, who ended up getting slaughtered by the vampire she was hunting. The child’s personality and temperament, as well as practitioner typing is up to you, however the fc has already been decided as Freminet from Genshin Impact.

Oh no, I get it. I just have many issues with the community in general despite loving it - but all I ever really seem to see talked about is the “everyone sucks at communicating or taking initiative to plot” and that’s it.

I don’t see the opposite addressed.

I rarely see the weird competitiveness addressed either?

I am used to seeing people writing more actively and ship with people they are closer to and trust more, but every once in a while it seems people will get weird about it. I’m here to have fun - I’m not interested in having a competition over who posts the most, or the longest, or has the most ships under their belt. So sometimes when someone suddenly pops up and gets weird because a close friend and I have too many threads or ships out of the blue - it just…feels wrong?

I especially never turn away plots or threads with other people - so I’m not intentionally being exclusive — but I’m also not a mind-reader and can’t tell if someone wants something and doesn’t speak up, which is another problem entirely. It sometimes feels like people expect others to automatically know what their personal expectations are or expect people to be able to read the room so to speak, of someone they hardly know — and in turn wouldn’t know the mannerisms or preferences of.

I will also agree that there are some rather horribly mannered people scattered about, but I feel part of that has been fed by that weird competitiveness and random…jealousy? If that’s the right phrase.

I have a controversial opinion.

Before I get into it though - please note this is very general and I am not talking about anyone in particular.

I see people often talk about the negative aspects of rp and how the partners are too passive or the anxiety prevents them from initiating conversations or plots or causing a lack of communication. Yeah, that can be bad. But I hardly ever see the flip side mentioned?

I have had past experiences and have heard of others having them where I was expected to be so social and communicative that it felt far too demanding. If I didn’t dump paragraphs of plot ideas or dm a person every day, it was considered rude or that I wasn’t putting enough effort in to maintain relationships.

Yes - rp is inherently social. Yes - lack of communication is detrimental. But so are overtly demanding expectations.

But if i have to dump paragraphs of gushing or even just indulge people with having conversations daily - to “prove” I’m still interested - that’s also just not right?

Even social butterflies will have periods of time they don’t feel like talking.

So while the “not enough” is often addressed, people also need to accept that “too much” also exists and not treat it as a myth.

This is all coming from someone who struggles with “are my threads interesting or are people too nice”, so I get it. But sometimes people are just having a lull, or a bad day, and it isn’t personal even if it feels like it.

Everyone’s social batteries are different, too.
