i really want a magical girl / magical boy site. I would say something like tokyo mew mew, sailor moon, or maybe even the lesser known shugo chara and pretear, since I love the powers, themes, and elements of these series -- even puella madoka, especially with its witches, is great. I've been really considering making an original magical girl/boy rp based in either New York or Tokyo, because those seem the most diverse to me and the easiest setting(s) to construct. As far as whether or not the magical characters will be reincarnations or not really depends on the setting and how I feel -- part of me really wants to do like either reincarnations of Japanese gods (for Tokyo) or the Greek pantheon (for New York), but even that seems a little cliche. I think the hardest part would be trying to find an "outfit" or a couple things on the magical girl/boy apparel that would "tie" the characters together, and make them aware of each other and what they are, and in forming a team (like sailor senshi having sailor collars and tiaras, the mew mews having mew chokers with pendants, etc.)

I feel like fandoms like sailor moon have become over-done, but I still love the idea of characters being approached by a small entity or person, being told they're destined to defend something, and coming into their powers and learning about an evil that is terrorizing their world. Alternatively, the "evil" is, while generally *can be* monsters and youma and intrigue, and ofc that could be part of it -- but, I always like to think there is a small group of people pulling the strings, maybe creating the monsters, for some grander purpose, and players applying for these villains would be encouraged, too.

It would just take some serious world-building, brain-storming, and planning, and I'd rather see if anyone would be interested in this concept before starting to work on it.

unpopular opinion: this time of year and onward until like, Spring, I always want a roleplay based in the world of Narnia or -- one I've been thinking about a lot is The Land of Sweets, as shown in The Nutcracker, or something similar to it. I adore the idea of a few hero and heroines being isekai-d into a magical winter wonderland, where only they can save it, experience the nuances and whimsies of the new world, meet new characters who are a part of the land, and go on a journey to release this other existence from eternal frost and snow.

what if

we did like marvel/dc characters personified/reincarnated? Like have animanga/other fcs for comic book/mcu/dcu canon, but they're virtually oc characters! but, as far as essence and powers, they are virtually the same characters with like normal jobs, more or less, who stop evil every now and again, or maybe are the evil? I remember seeing a site like this a long time ago and I always adored the idea

another idea I had was like a pokemon rp -- but not in the traditional sense, more like pokemon meets magical girl, where one specific pokemon, like their "main" pokemon, are able to "fuse" with their trainer, or are connected via a soul-bond, and give them their abilities/attacks in order to stop catastrophe, but the enemies/evil part that they would be fighting here was always what eluded me

i would also really love a fairytales reincarnated site right about now

i was thinking more historical, but I don't know if that would be a deal-breaker towards anyone
honestly i'd love a historical victorian rp. it sounds like fun. you don't see a lot of true animanga historical rps and it's sad
RIGHT?! I've always wondered why there's never been like a 1800's sort of thing set in London or an au animanga rp about Queen Victoria and that time-period. I love it so much, and I've thought of doing it plenty of times, but I'm always scared that it wouldn't get much interest -- unless it had some sort of supernatural angle to it, like be Fruits Basket-based or something. There's all kinds of fantasy rp out there as is, so I'd want something a bit simpler lol

I'm kind of ashamed to admit it, but i kind of recycle my fcs. I first started using them, like, 2008-2010, when I first started rping, and, generally, they're all fcs of series I cherish or anime/manga that have a place in my heart. I have expanded my portrayal database a little since then to include other notable series(like Arknights and Idolmaster) but it's mostly because I find the fcs extremely gorgeous, and specific fcs are also reserved for certain niches in my head, too.

I think I do have a penchant/love for female fcs with pig-tails, bows, and/or braids for some reason, but it really just depends on the archetype of the character I'm going for. Some of my favourites include:

- usagi tsukino from sailor moon
- aerith gainsborough from final fantasy
- reimu from touhou
- taiwan from axis powers
- miku hatsune from vocaloid
- kequing from genshin impact
- sheeta from castle in the sky

but i also really like a certain aesthetic for my tsun/goth girl, in which I've noticed, that her hair always has to be purple or black? like, for example, I use rei hino from sailor moon or raven from teen titans on repeat for this specific type of character.

I very rarely will play/pick up a guy character, but if I do, I lean towards a specific archetype/personality there, too (like Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha, Byakuya from Bleach, etc.)

I've never really been a big fan of shounen-esque sites. I love magical girl sites and like to have violence and conflict as much as the next writer to spice things up, but too much or excessive combat just gets over-done and boring after a while. I don't like gore or explicit stuff either, and some of these sites are filled with content like that.

I'm also not a fan of any site that has heavy mechanics. If it going to take me 400+years and a whole lot of work to get that one pokemon I really want from my character from a mod thread or to get my character to be stronger in their abilities, I'm most likely going to skip over your site. Playing DND is enough for me, and I don't want to have to jump through hoops in a hobby that is mostly focused on collaborative writing, passion, muse, and motivation. Like someone said before, intense and extensive mechanics just suck the fun right out of it.

I'm probably the exception to the norm here, because I love slice of life threads, because the purpose of most sol threads is characterization and/or drama or just pure fun, or they usually have a rhyme or reason, and some sort of development towards the character -- though I find myself not being able to do just slice of life. I love writing about magic in a mundane world or something that has abilities, curses, reincarnations, or personifications in everyday life, and I can often come up with plots and characters based around a combination of these things, based on what the site is about -- like, currently, I run a sol site that revolves around object personifications and characters that possess slight abilities, with a small stream of "magic" flowing through the world and a back-drop of "where is the goddess?" on-site. But, if your site is just set in a city or a small town with nothing else to keep it together or no other allure, like a slice of life rp set in Tokyo, I find it hard keep my threads going and my muse alive because after the first couple of threads, it all just seems monotonous. I kind of feel the same way about high school/academy roleplays, if only because I think you can only do so much within that setting and, personally, it's very limiting to me.

Okay, I have more (actually a lot) to say/suggest but because you mentionmed playing cards, I got very excited but I would have to sleep soon--

Have you ever heard of Storium? Or did this idea come from tabletop games? Because I feel cards in RP systems isn't something I hear from others at all but I have been cooking about it for years in my head.

I have not! But, looking at it now, this is something similar to what I heard before. My inspiration comes from a combo of farming sim and tabletop, but I really wanted to do something different, and I've never seen anyone use cards as a means of determining an action or creating conflict, so I thought it would be interesting to do -- given that I actually come up with a system for it.

I also would, instead, love to do a reputation system! But I don't know what the system would be used for, though.

Hello fellow people of Pixel Perfect!

I am currently making a slice of life rp with light magic and was wanting to put a mechanical or DND-like spin on it to make it more fun/interesting. I want to do something light that won't be too much for members since this is meant to be a laid-back, whimsical experience -- i don't really want to use dice since I've done that before, though I've thought about "playing cards" that could reveal certain things to characters, or incorporating certain tools that could be purchasable in the store, or even integrating a reputation system, though I'm not particularly sure how to do the last one, though the concept/idea sounds appealing.

Overall, I'm not entirely sure how this would work in a SOL setting, or if it is even possible to have some kind of system in place for something not meant to be story-oriented. I just want to have an extra flair to the site that would keep people from getting bored too quickly, another incentive besides awards.

What have you seen in the past that you've liked? Or, what suggestions do you have that you think could work?
