maybe i need an rp buddy or somethin' again.

i'd dabble in the real life roleplay field more. but my main turn-off is that using face claims of real people on most if not all rl sites i've found is a chore with too many rules. you can't use them if they're too much older than the picture or too much younger from their current age. if they happen to die all of the sudden, oh well, you can't use them! even if you don't agree with their views, if they were / are slightly problematic, likely can't use them.

... and the fact that they are real people. there is a whole morality slider that can go either which way with both types of face claims so i won't touch on it. but it does feel more wrong to me on a moral scale than using a real person's artwork.

regardless of that and on a way more positive note --

the animanga community in general has been a very nostalgic, homey place for me. i started here and i bet i'll end here. i'm familiar with a lot of the people in it for better or for worse. while i'm not very present in it anymore, it keeps me coming back every time.

might be echoing the others' insights, however as someone who has rped in chats (discord and good ol' chatrooms) and forums (proboards, jcink, forumotion) —

i advocate jumping in and trying to work with each one in order to see what feels better for you and your community (if you have one that is moving with you).

discord is great for rp and is becoming even greater with each new feature / bot that comes to it. but forums are great for rp too. even if it isn't as accessible, some of the features it can provide aren't quite there on discord yet and might never be.

but... at the end of the day, they can work in conjunction with each other. you likely won't have to give one up to play on another.

that said, if you're interested in running a forum — this site has a pretty helpful community if you ever need answers to anything really.

find the time to rp / write in general. it's been difficult with my life being as busy as it is. once i do that...

1. reopen the medieval asia site i had with a friend but with a fresh coat of paint. or the other horror punk-esque concept i've been brewing. either way... fun times.

2. if i can find a site that is accepting of dark, taboo, and explicit content (all within reason & with warnings) — i'd be a lot happier in this hobby. i like writing terrible people who do terrible things and writing with others' characters who are the same way. last few times i've dipped my feet in this pool, not so good.

3. try to find and/or curate my own writing style. after reading a few books back to back, i realized how unique each writer... writes! so, i want to see if i can figure out the same for myself.

4. learn how to roleplay with others again. i forgot. been out the game too long. how to plot fr?

something where people can make gods / demigods / mythological creatures to mingle around with. maybe with modern world shenanigans.

also... soulmate site... but gimme something a little gritty. y'know some deeper plot that connects to how everyone is connected or somethin'. like loveless without the problematic themes.
