learned that i am, unfortunately as someone said to me, the root of my own problems :) not in the way that im a terrible awful person but in a way that i have to be the one to improve things for myself and unless i do, i will not make progress! following this philosophy i made new friends, got more interested in more experiences, learned to be more comfortable being alone again, learned how to reach out to people - a lot of come to jesus moments i fear.

it was not the lesson that they wanted me to take from that at all, but i think mine is better tbh

i do think as well how sites are set up (or trending to be setup) nowadays really harms people's efforts to intergrate? a lot of sites are moving away from large overarching plotlines that are run by staff from what i've been seeing which reduces the amount of things that people can get incorporated with and instead shifts everything onto the members, making it a lot easier for cliques to form between friends who plot together. i think it's all well and good vowing to be better as individuals, but this kind of talk rarely seems to manifest anything on the actual sites.

i've been a serial flaker in the RPC lately bc I've found it very hard to make anything click, and I have tried to dm people and go out of my way to offer threads, plot with people - i think at this point it's genuinely a cultural thing that people in the RPC are less interested with going outside of their shells. i've also noticed that the culture is concerned with people forming their own little groups instead of plotting with people at large - so again, to me that says something about the site culture that has sprung up rather than individual people.

i think a lot more sites would do better with more active admins or introducing incentives to encourage people to plot with each other. it's something that i aim to do when i open my own site because as someone who's rp-running background comes from DMing, it's on the DM to make sure that people r involved and engaged with the storyline - i see no reason why this shouldn't be the case in rp?

i think that cliques can v easily be a force for good too, and i think it'd be better to disregard notions of cliquey-ness as much as possible. instead, why not try making friends and expanding your clique as it were? it's a lot easier to plot with people when you get to know them a bit better and find a common interest. i think the friendliness in general is missing from a lot of modern rp sites which is a shame because at the end of the day, it's a hobby where i'm writing my silly little ocs. i've managed to make some very good friends when i decided to finally get out of my shell and be a lot more open to making friends instead of assuming that nobody wants to speak to me.

tl;dr: i think there's a problem with rp culture at the moment, and i would like to change it. people can't see the forest for the trees.

Thank you for all the interest!! It's really heartwarming to see, I'm glad you guys are interested in final fantasy rp!

I'm just posting to update that I'm looking for 2-3 beta readers to look at systems. No experience with TTRPGs or FF is required, and feedback will be required on how legible and easy to understand the systems are - therefore complete beginners to systems like this are encouraged since I would love for people unfamiliar with them to be involved. Those who are interested feel free to send me a DM on Discord @wishdragons and tell me whether you're familiar with TTRPGs and which ones that you are.

VANAHEIMR - THE GLORIOUS CROWN JEWEL OF THE AEGYL PEOPLE
Suspended above the Sandsea, the floating city of Vanaheimr remains the last city state that has not bent the knee to an Empire, and has stood proud and free since it’s inception. Held aloft by the grace of its founder, Feolthanos, the city was once exclusively the home of the Aegyl but has since become a bustling hub of trade as well as boasting the largest standing Navy composed of the illustrious ranks of Sky Pirates who once valiantly defended the city from the grasp of the Amaranthine Empire.

Are you a fan of final fantasy, particularly the world of FFXII and FFXVI? Are you a fan of high fantasy and magical technology, were the two are interlinked and magic is part of the living breathing tapestry of the world? Do you have a soft spot for number crunching and ttrpgs, or don't hate them enough to avoid them on sight? Then Vanaheimr, the City of Splendours in the sky, may be the next original fantasy roleplay for you! It has no release date, but I will be going MIA to play Dawntrail and then clear Savage Week 1 and then do the ultimate raids, so at some point after that, Vanaheimr may or not exist. It's a long term project.

PLANNED FEATURES INCLUDE:
  • Multiple playable races! Humans, Beastkin, Aegyl (winged humanoids), Dragonblooded, Elfs and Elementals are planned. Each race is planned to have favoured classes, innate bonuses to certain weapons/magics and exclusive classes for some.
  • A fully functional job system! With classical final fantasy class staples such as sword saint, dragoon, white, black and red mages and astrologian. You will be able to level multiple jobs with a single character to allow a flexibility in build and create your own unique jobs. There will also potentially be prestige classes that will require levels in multiple jobs.
  • A functional leveling system with XP rewarded for completing threads, participating in quests and site events.
  • A pantheon of gods that can bestow their favour on worshippers, including an exclusive race of Blessed that will be rewarded through site activity and engagement with the plot.
  • Summons and Limit Breaks, including the ability to become a Dominant - transforming into Eikons.
  • Factions including Sky Pirates with player ran crews, Knight Orders, Religious Factions, and Merchant Guilds. Political Intriguew woven alongside fantasy adventuring!
  • Crystals.


All ideas are subject to change, and currently a work in progress. I ran this once as a pathfinder campaign and people seemed to like it.

02: CLEAN SLATE
Written to everything you've ever dreamed



Her fingers grip the porcelain as if she wants to crack it. Smashed shards distort the face that looks back at her but there is no mistaking it is her - drained, perhaps, heavy set dark circles and a certain sickly paleness in the fluorescent light of the bathroom - but it’s still her. Her hair hangs over her features, the bright orange beginning to fade, no longer the colour of sunset, of liquid flame poured forth from a brazier. Despite every new line on her face, it is still her.

Should that realization be a comfort?

The hydrogen peroxide stings against the open cuts, one bisecting her bottom lip, another few across her cheeks. When she carefully tries to pry the shards of glass out with shaky hands, she accidentally cuts her hands. The sink fills with her blood, washed down by lukewarm water that spins idly towards the drain from the steady trickle of the tap.

A fresh start, they promised, as they placed a handgun between her palms. After today, she would not have to be herself anymore - a new name, a new place, a whole new life was waiting for her as long as she did one last job. Words like spun sugar dripped into her ear by a snake that had already crushed her long before she fell through the glass.

Sometimes, the radio mocks her. It knows about the incident, but it doesn’t know enough to do anything but frustrate her with the interruption of the smooth lilting vocals. She knows what happened. She doesn’t need reminding of the fact that she does not in fact get her new life as cleanly as was promised.

Her lashes rest against her cheeks as she exhales, taking a moment to steady herself on the sink again. The knife is there within her reach.

Instead, Annie takes a deep breath. She washes her hands in the cheap motel soap that refuses to lather, and when she is content that there is no more blood underneath her nails, she opens her eye up with her fingers. A bloodshot pupil stares back at her, but it is human in its entirety, rolled upwards, downwards, to the left and right, searching for abnormalities. Teal looks back.

She removes the eyepatch from her right eye. The eye that looks back is not bloodshot - it is simply red. There is nothing there but red, not an empty socket, but the red liquid that shifts beneath the membrane. It is normal.

No, it’s her normal.

She checks her teeth, fingers thumbing over molars for any traces of sharpness. Her right incisor is too sharp, nicking the pad of her index finger forcing her to taste iron. It has always smelled so sweet, even when it’s hers. It would be even more satisfying if it was someone else’s. The image of sinking her teeth into the flesh of a willing victim, or even better, one that has been chased down like a rabbit running from the wolf’s jaws.

A fresh start - she was promised. The idea is shoved down as she takes the knife in her right hand, shaking slightly with the knowledge of what she has to do. She mumbles that she is human like a prayer, pleading with some unforeseen force.

She presses the point of the knife against the thin membrane of her right eye. She is met with her own grim expression, chest rising and falling with the rhythm of prey rather than predator. It is the moment of anticipation that is the worst, and she tells herself this directly as she plunges the knife through the membrane and screams.

Her head smashes against the porcelain, slumping the floor. Her body shakes and shivers, trying to force the air into her lungs.

It is her normal to continue the same loop until she can get her clean start. To make the feelings go away, to make the cravings stop. She can see it looming over as she lays there completely helpless, blood rushing from the gouged eye, taking her chin between its claws as it purrs. When it leans down to lay a kiss upon her forehead, it is so soft with her that she can almost forget what it is.

as someone who is currently running Rise of Tiamat on a forum, I just want to let you know that it is possible and honestly, also is very fun to use dnd mechanics! plus honestly i think i've played so much dnd that i just really enjoy the process of building now


but yes i would be interested either way - im guessing this would be around the same time as bg3?

chronic thread hoarder here :salute:

personally if i have a good tracker and spread my threads out with my characters i have no problems with keeping on top of my threads with a week approx turnaround. some threads get more attention bc they hold my brain in their hands. i think as well having more threads helps me to keep my momentum as long pauses in posting can really hurt my motivation and i've realized that i always need to feel like im a little behind on my posting to really get going and knock out as many as i want.

i think having more threads also covers for partners differing posting speeds, since naturally if i work from oldest > newest i can fall in line with faster posters once my slower threads are out of the way. having the "week" deadline (that i never stick to, but most of the time get nearish) also helps. i will 100% leave someone on owed though if i can't whip up a decent reply bc in my head a bad response is worse than a good response that takes a lot of time to get to you and i like to give my partner the best post that i can give em out of politeness.

would anyone actually be interested in ttrpg stuff on a forum?

i've seen a few pop up but i've always seen them close soon and i genuinely wonder why, but as someone who thinks about dnd/pathfinder way too much i really do want to make one eventually. i would love to run pathfinder but i feel like nobody has played 1e apart from the boomers.

im currently working on a concept which takes a lot of inspiration from soulsborne, nier replicant/drakengard revolving what is basically medieval post apocalypse where gods destroyed the world and living in the aftermath. also there are dragons, bc what good fantasy world doesn't have dragons as a main feature? i know what im about lol

there r too many good games......

dragon's dogma at the end of the month is so exciting, still have not finished p3r, but yet im replaying divinity 2 again bc i want bg3 but also do not want to play bg3, again, bc i crave dnd content and this is the closest to it. also the pathfinder games r looking appealing again. how is one supposed to be productive under these circumstances.
