Solaris is your average quaint town just down the road. It offers a peaceful life and an even more peaceful community. Although an idyllic town that many call home, all is not what it seems in Solaris. There are suspicions that their ‘home’ is not the cozy abode of their dreams.

The truth of the matter is this: everyone in this town has died. Solaris can be considered the afterlife; it exists as a limbo for the souls of those who have passed on, pulling them from many different universes to populate the town. While many remain unaware of the truth of their reality, some are privy to this knowledge.

The divines have put you here, but whose side will you choose?

an unfulfilled wish
Every soul within Solaris harbors one unfilfilled wish passed down from their previous life. When someone recovers enough of their memories to understand the significance of this wish, they will disappear in a process coined 'The Second Death'.

Achieving this is considered the final step in the afterlife, though whether or not this is considered a good thing depends on the individual. No one knows what happens after they disappear, as a person's body will physically fade away eventually, be it in a few minutes or a few hours. They leave nothing behind but the people they've met and the memories they created within Solaris.

To those who believe in the idyllic illusions of Solaris, this reflects as if their neighbor has moved out of the town. Those who know of the truth, however, are left behind and aware of it all.

blessings and curses
All within our world possess a kind of magic, which appears in the form of one blessing and one curse. Each of these are unique to the person, but it is not unheard of for many people to have gifts manifest similar to another’s.

A blessing is a special ability, similar to that of a superpower, while a curse is considered a major downside to the blessing. While blessings and curses do not necessarily go hand in hand, it is quite common that the two will resonate with one another.

Each citizen's blessing and curse are bestowed to them upon arrival in Solaris, but – as with most aspects of their 'life' – are believed to have always been present.

ideology
An ideology is how they view Solaris and afterlife as a whole, and each citizen of the town aligns with one of the three ideologies. While some people may see the point of both sides, you are required to pick one that your character fits the most.

Theses ideologies are not set in stone, however, and one can swap to a different one upon character development and progression. The ideologies we've laid out are [attr="class","GID-paradiso"]Paradiso, [attr="class","GID-inferno"]Inferno, and [attr="class","GID-purgatorio"]Purgatorio.

paradiso
Paradiso ideologists are Solaris citizens who have recovered some of their memories, but do not wish to recover any more. They wish to prevent the average citizen from recovering their own memories, so that the town may remain blissfully unaware of the chaos right under its nose.

Individuals with the Paradiso ideology are people who seek to uphold the peace. They do not wish to ruin what happiness people have found within the false reality of Solaris. Whether or not their methods are truly good or not depends on how others view them.

inferno
Inferno ideologists are Solaris citizens who have recovered some of their memories and want to help others do the same. They believe that most, if not all within Solaris deserve to remember where they came from, and seek to break the illusion of the town.

One doesn't need to want to watch the town burn to disagree with the way it treats its citizens. Whether dedicated to awakening each citizen's memories one at a time or quietly attempting to recollect their own, individuals with the Inferno ideology seek to shake the status quo.

purgatorio
Solaris citizens who have not recovered any of their memories and are unaware of their presence in the afterlife fall into the Purgatorio 'ideology'. As they do not know of their missing memories, they cannot take a side in the decision to maintain or uproot the town's secrets.

Rarely, someone who has regained some of their memories will not care whether they – or anyone else – regain or lose their past lives. The truly indifferent fall under the Purgatorio ideology, if only because they do not align with the other two.
