Soulslike/dungeon crawler/fantasy party vibes with a 'stranger in a strange land' premise. There is a bigger world to serve whatever back story a character has, but that won't be relevant for the plot apart from maybe interpersonal conflicts. The characters all enter this strange land for whatever reason, some on their own, some in groups maybe. It is completely uncharted, and they effectively all start roughly around the same area, and all characters share a similar goal of venturing deeper. Everyone is an explorer. Key points are: Exploration, as there will only be a small section of areas available for rp, and I would toss some monsters or puzzles the writers' way. Whenever they write some progression or beat a big thing, they explore deeper and unlock some new areas with cool new things. No canons, as every character will be roughly on the same playing field. Means no preexisting factions or groups. People will have to make parties themselves! Which is the most exciting part for me NGL. The plot will be pretty flexible. There will be some big mystery to solve in this land, why it is so ancient and ruinous, and there will be answers and pointers on where to go that will be strewn throughout threads and characters. Whether writers pick up on those or go on to explore other stuff won't be up to me. The plan is to keep churning out prompts and see what people do with them.
There will be some magic and stuff, and of course people will find all sorts of gizmos and cool stuff along the way.
No idea if it would work. Want to leave as many gaps as possible for writers to fill in so there's not too much work and there's no burnout. No politics or factions also means less freedom with character creation. Everyone is an adventurer. Inspirations are Souls games, Hollow Knight, Dragon Quest, Shadow of the Colossus and even kinda One Piece.
Any thoughts or prayers much appreciated.
