As I wait for my idea to garner more possible support, I'll drop this idea here too.

There are a countless amount of Naruto RP sites but most of them now seem to focus on the things introduced in Shippuden/Boruto. But in the beginning of Naruto, the aesthetic was quite different and I liked it way more. What about a site that focuses on the aesthetic of the early part of Naruto with very little concepts from Shippuden/Boruto?
Reject Rinne Tensei Madara Uchiha with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, the Rinnegan, a perfect Susano'o and the ability to control the juubi and the Gedou Mazou, embrace throwing hand signs to make cool stuff happen and getting stabbed mattering.

A battle royale/dungeon crawler type deal for squads of 2-4 characters that are compelled to battle it out in a race to the finish line type situation. No idea on the details of the setting, but it would maybe be a hunger-games style battlegrounds or naruto's chuunin exam arc forest of death type deal. Maybe a low-tech fantasy thing or whatever, wouldn't super duper matter. Lore details are a bit more important. Will be something along the lines of some kind of treasure hunt for some magical goblet or what have you. Maybe something like in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic where these heavenly towers spawn all over the world so bands of people from all over the world enter into one in the hope of reaching the treasure and ascending or getting ultra-mega rich or whatever. Maybe there's a djinn that grants wishes at the end. Backstory would be super simple: the first dungeon got cleared and the winners had really good stuff happen to them so now everybody wants in. So the next dungeon/tower/whatever arrives and everyone and their mother tries to race to the finish line. Eventually the first treasure gets found and the whole thing would reset and move on to the next tower/dungeon/whatever.

Idk I'm just spitballing. Kind of got inspired by multiplayer rpg's like Borderlands/Tiny Tina's Wonderland and other 4p vidya like Vermintide as well. Might just be that though, a borderlands inspired site where people hop from one planet to the next trying to be the first ones in the vault. So there'd be high-tech but also space magic and everyone could have a unique character ability and a whole lotta weapons. But maybe it could also fit into a fantasy style universe where people mostly use swords n bows. Idk T_T

Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is getting isekai'd/panfandom'd into an alternate universe so that's not something I envision working here. Not that I envision this working hehe

With the Bleach anime returning and current Shonen Jump having some pretty cool new and fresh action mangas (Sakamoto Days, Monster #8, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Ayashimon) and some indie fighting mangas having gained recognition in recent years (Kengan Ashura/Omega, Record of Ragnarök) the 12 year old kid in me really just wants some cool action/fighting rp site. Nothing pretentious, no grand lore, no numbers or power systems or anything like that.

I was thinking in terms of some fighting festival, tournament of power type deal. Some abstract omnipotent meta-deity called "The Author" decided to create an eternal fighting festival for entertainment. It would be panfandom or maybe panfandom inspired and have people with big swords and cool powers, belonging to different franchises representing different realms based on real manga franchises like Bleach and Naruto or whatever, fighting to score points to determine that year's victor. The whole thing mainly spurred on by the franchises wanting to be safe from "cancellation" or "destruction" or whatever. Since the franchises that didn't win are threatened with being deleted from the universe, representing discontinuation in a Shonen manga magazine. Maybe there could be some storylines where the factions team up to take down the Author of the magazine and there would be different villains like "The Editor" and "The Reader" or something. And the franchises wouldn't just score points for winning fights, but having cool storylines and classic shonen tropes like rivalries, villains, heroes, side characters, sacrifices and so on. And there'd be certain mechanics like characters that sacrifice themselves in cool ways being resurrected or whatever.

So the characters wouldn't know that everything's just part of a meta-narrative, but the members would, with the point being trying to distill everything down to crafting hype moments.

This is all very style-over-substance, and it's not supposed to be super serious or heavy or anything. People would be able to do what they want with their powers, the whole point just being having cool fights and dialogue all in the framework of shonen-type hype moments.

Idk if I'm making sense, but it's what my heart yearns for.

I don't even know if I could pull this off, but lessee if anyone's interested in the first place:

BATTLE TENDENCY
So, the basic premise of this site is that it's a complete and utter shonen trash site. The main narrative drive behind characters and their interactions would be super duper hardcore fightan threads that pits all your favorite power fantasies against each other.
So, my idea here is to steal borrow, mix and mash all the edgy and cool stuff from popular and stylish shonen mangas like Bleach, Naruto, Black Clover, Jujutsu Kaisen, Nanatsu no Taizai and whatever other teenager's daydream shonen has serialized over the years and condense into something workable with a setting that would pit characters against each other.

There would be a class system setup, where each class represents some shonen-y trope. Like, for example there's weapon-wielders ala Bleach and Soul Eater, a technique-based class ala Naruto, Black Clover etc. with the ability to buy more powers as time moves on.
I don't want it to veer off into total absurdity though, so all powers would follow some kind of connective aesthetic tying setting, world and abilities together, but ideally with enough room for everyone to get creative with their version of the big-ass-blast

The setting would likely invoke either a higher power or a panfandom-y dreamscape of sorts, or basic circumstance like some supernatural anime fighting-institute/wrestling extravaganza. This ties in to the plot boiling down to a permanent Yu-Gi-Oh-ish Duelist Kingdom/Battle City arc for fame, or glory, or your nakama, or revenge, or maybe some harry-potter-house type factions.

My goal would be to foster an environment where people just enjoy writing big-ass-blasts leveling city-blocks and mutually discussing scenes and their outcomes as things move along rather than see who can spew up the most intricately masturbatory word salad. To foster this, characters would all be on a level playing field regardless if you're just starting out or have a long-standing character. The power scale would remain roughly the same. Your matchup and arsenal of abilities would be the only significant thing. This would be completely statless, rankless, etc. Basically, losing would only be consequential in the narrative and your character's plot because all fights are canon. But maybe the next fight they bounce back with by getting a critical hit on their rival or something similar.

But yah, my inner teenager is screaming to level some buildings and write some super fun shonen trash scenes without worrying too much about lore or overaching storylines or my character's place in the universe (as much as I love doing that). I just wanna have a place to shoot some hand lasers man.

PS: This got really long and I tried to edit it and cut it down to the essentials. Hope this is somewhat cohesive and not too word-y.

- Ok so I do agree its a lot.. I mean a lot to sift through. I was thinking of giving general overviews of places, sticking myself to a word limit for the bigger places and putting the needed info into each one. Though I do agree the Demacia/Noxus conflict would probably be the biggest and kinda first overarching plot line. I do agree with a lot of what youre saying as far as the factions go though, it's gonna be a LOT if everythings opened up. Maybe the site could start with Demacia and Noxus and slowly expand as members kinda join in? As far as the races go I would be totally open to adding spirits and even half dragons. Maybe eventually the Void because we could have an event for some of the void stuff. I'm one of the nerds who got the lore book too so I have quick references
You could definitely JUST do Demacia/Noxus to start out, although I do think Piltover/Zaun should be part of the main setting. So basically

>VALORAN
  >>DEMACIA
  >>NOXUS
  >>PILTOVER / ZAUN
 (>>OTHER PLACES TBD)

But Ionia, Ixtal, Bilgewater and Freljord could just be optional origins for the player. That'd be solved by simply adding a 'birthplace' or 'origin' tag on the character application. They could be later added via site events, for sure. And as for Shurima and the Shadow Isles, maybe they could be visited via situational quests/expeditions some characters can partake in and they would be locked otherwise to keep it focused on Valoran. It would certainly be a lot if everything is opened up, totally agree.

In that case, maybe you should change the name to Valoran Divided? Just so people don't get the impression all of Runeterra is always going to be available?

Apart from that, have you given any thought to the power system? Because I feel like bringing ranks or similar into it would make things kinda dull, although it would stifle "growth" somewhat. But all in all, I feel like a League roleplay shouldn't feel too shonen-y with being able to rank up and grow your character from meager to super ultra powerful using exp or gold or similar. Because although that would be in line with the game, I feel getting rid of the gamey aspects would be what makes rping a League setting worthwhile. Maybe being able to expand on your abilities somewhat? Or level up the individual abilities? Idk. But I was serious about every character only having five skills. I feel like that's the kind of limitation that fosters creativity as well as character themes. And it would mean most characters are automatically on a level playing field since no one has more or less abilities than someone else, and it just becomes a matter of how characters express and use these abilities and how they interact with one another. It would also keep it simple, while allowing people to create characters with really interesting and powerful abilities within that 'one passive, three miscalleneous and one ultimate ability' limitation. Anyways, that's my two cents on that.

Other than that, do you need any help setting anything up? Are you looking for any help beyond basic bouncing of ideas? Because I'll say I am down if you need anything. Now, obviously I don't know how to skin a site, otherwise I would be offering that straight out the gate, but for anything else feel free to hmu.

Hey, I'd definitely be interested in this. I think one of the major issues that comes with creating something around League is the same thing that comes with other really really big worlds. Focus. Too many options and settings always start feeling kinda random and pointless to me. One way to maybe circumvent that would be to focus on the Demacian-Noxian conflict.
Basically, you could have all those places that you mentioned in there, but because Demacia and Noxus have their hands all over Runeterra, the other places (factions, rather) are either Noxus-aligned or Demacia-aligned. To further accentuate this, you could seperate factions into Major Factions (Dem, Nox) around which the plot mainly revolves, and Minor Factions (Piltover, Zaun, Freljord, Ionia) that each have their own stakes in the war and support either Demacia or Noxus. To top it off you could maybe have neutral factions in Ixtal, Bilgewater and Targon? Idk, it's already starting to get really expansive at this point, but I do think it's an idea worth thinking about. Especially because you could really get into it. Maybe Demacian allies are only reluctantly allying themselves because of Noxus' aggressive expansionism and care about self-preservation leading them to oppose Noxus more than they are actually loyal to Demacia, whereas Noxus' allies are more loyal but don't necessarily agree with Noxus' aggressive expansionism. Idk, something like that.
As for Shurima, I think you should throw it in with the Shadow Isles as kind of a "lost kingdom" type deal that characters can explore IC'ly maybe with some custom Ascended NPC's to throw in for interaction and quest goals?

As for creation I think you could be a bit lenient with races, even though I don't typically like that. But it's League and it has a LOT of established lore. So Humans, Vastaya and Yordles and I wouldn't be afraid to add Spirits as a catch-all for anything demonic/divine (think Kindred and Nocturne in the same category). To round this out, maybe also add "hybrid" races, ie Elementborn (half-elementals from any race like Liss, Voli or Ornn), Voidwoken (void-altered from any race) and Half-Dragons (like shyv, maybe limit them in number somehow).
As for the more 'potent' races, like Ascended, Aspects and Darkin, I feel they should remain npc's and act as catalysts for plot elements.
And for powers, well I think in true League fashion, every character gets five abilities, one passive, three active and one ultimate ability that has to fit to their personal lore somehow. That kinda writes itself, I feel.

To come back to plot again, I think a lot of plot can just be achieved through filling in some details in the setting with original content. So make the Piltover/Zaun conflict be an extension of the Demacia/Noxus conflict with Piltover being Demacian-aligned and Zaun being Noxus-aligned. Perhaps zaun spies working for noxus in piltover is a sub-plot. Things like that. An other issue that arises would probably be canons. You'd have to limit it the bare essentials to not have the issue of too many canons and not enough characters interested in filling them out. Alternatively, just make all really important positions npc's.

That's my ideas so far. I'm down to talk some more via Disc though if you want.

I never actually made a forum, but after playing Hollow Knight for a million hours I had a lot of ideas on how to plant that concept onto an rp forum. I ultimately didn't make it because I'm bad at making sites, but also because I though even if I did manage to open something, people would either A: be turned off by it being a mess or B: not be interested because the amount of people that finished Hollow Knight AND are interested in the lore AND want to rp are probably really slim.

Also, because I didn't know how to capture the aesthetic of lost bug-kingdom onto animanga fc's. Because you can kinda do away with the bug-related stuff, but at the same time you kinda can't. The good thing woulda been that the rules kinda write themselves though. Factions would be seperated into characters using physical bodies, soul magic or void, plus using the charm system to give people access to smaller custom powers.

Plot woulda been similar to Hollow Knight, in that every player character has amnesia and returned to the ancient kingdom in following an inexplicable pull to the place. And more or less, it woulda gone the same with the Radiance being spread throughout most of the population and there being small tribes of survivors/npc's that pc's could do quests for and want to protect.

If you're still searching for a side-hoe, come check out my site (just follow the button in my signature). Etherious is an animanga fantasy site in an urban setting. Powers-wise, I'm an anything-goes-as-long-as-it's-thematically-consistent.... type... guy...

So yeah, I try to keep it tonally open, but aesthetically tight. It's a fairly active community with some really colorful and lovely people that are difficult not to love, but there's still a lot of room for more people. A lot of canon positions that need filling.

With that said, come check it out. If you have any questions hop on the discord, or use it anonymously via the button on the bottom right of the homepage. Or add me and hmu privately Mavroh#1561.

I'd love to see someone just make a villain with understandable motivations and just kinda... go for it, y'know? Like, attempt to light some shit on fire. Make a villain that people wouldn't mind see winning every once in a while. Topple the government, destroy the system, commit high-profile murder, extortion, backroom deals, theft. Just do it nike-style. I'd be there with ya.

sorry i posted in the wrong thread with the post before

I've always wanted to bring back my anime/manga site that was based around fairy-tale characters being reincarnated in modern time. It was a pretty interesting concept, and I've always wanted to broaden it just a little more.
Kinda like The Wolf Among Us? The Telltale game? Or a little less gritty/noir? Either way, I think it'd be dope.

Hey , thanks for the response! I didn't understand your explanation at first, but I also posted this question on the discord and responded with basically the exact same explanation you gave, except she also handheld me the entire way through the process, which ultimately made me realize that this was EXACTLY what you also proposed.

I thank you both really hard for helping me with this. Coding GODS you are, the world must know!

For completions sake in case future generations should ever ask themselves the same question, I'll add Pharaoh Leap's answer as well. ALL CREDITS FOR THE FOLLOWING GO TO

Also, nope, you can't. ;u; Only specific variables load in specific Layout Templates. WHICH... STINKS, BUT... ALAS...
Wait, heck, this might be easier said than done. strokes chin
A'IGHT, GOT IT. This isn't the perfect reach-around, but Proboards stinks, so this'll have to do.
Go to your Layout Templates. Go to the Thread Template, and then the Post List tab.

On line 28, you'll find this: <div class="message">$[post.message]</div>

Replace the whole line with this: <div class="message"><div class="c-$[post.created_by.group.name]">$[post.message]</div></div>
In your CSS, you'll now be able to style anything within that new class c-$[post.created_by.group.name] to change colors how you want.
Let's say you're trying to change the background color of a a class named "colortop", and the character's group is is called "Group". The group's color is #ff0000. In your CSS, you can write something like this:

.c-Group .colortop { background-color:#ff0000!important; }
Since you still can't call on the $[user.group.color] variable in your CSS, you'll have to do this manually for each group, unfortunately. :'D
So if you were changing the background-color for one class for three different groups, it'd look like:

.c-GroupOne .colortop { background-color:#ff0000!important; }
.c-GroupTwo .colortop { background-color:#00ff00!important; }
.c-GroupThree .colortop { background-color:#0000ff!important; }
And... honestly, I'm not sure if that will work if your group's name has a space in it............. sweats
Actually, I don't think it would.
