10 years ago this year, a hidden feud spilled out into the public eye and consumed the world. Peace was achieved on New Dawn Island and now magic and powers in general have grown common place and accepted. Special schools across the globe teach kids how to harness their abilities. None more established and prestigious as Trinity Academy on New Dawn Island. Now, forces are at work and mysteries wait to be uncovered on this stage that once again hold’s the fate for the world’s future.

SOY is an Anime powered Highschool / City life RP!

On our site we have a point system in place that awards members points for posts. As it currently stands the only thing available for purchase is Tier upgrades in your abilities. I'd like to add things but I'm at a loss, because for me there's never been anything stopping people from coming in with the things they want that aren't specifically locked behind a "paywall" So essentially, I need some help coming up with some cool ideas to go into our site shop. 

-Currently the ideas I have:

+Being able to buy a board that is a house/apartment/condo/residence for family/personal RP.
+Being able to board that is a public business that can have random players posting opens in like in the case of a restaurant or something.

Hey rabbitears , so I saw this post here and on another resource site but I mostly frequent here so I'll reply to it. I talked to the admins, they don't seem to mind too much about opening our site up to minors, we even are putting in some guidelines for labeling threads with ratings[Everyone, Teen, Mature], and we also activated [restricted] [/restricted] tags so if someone does post an rp thread that pushes into [Mature] rating territory, it's age gated. 

We're also, in the midst as of me writing this, developing a means for people to auto rate their threads with a drop down menu Like so:



Cuz A.) I think it's cool that you want to potentially get your kid(s?) involved in the hobby
And B.) We as a community definitely need new blood and new ideas. 

So, I'd like to offer up Shadows of our Youth, we're an anime powered high school / city life RP, we have easy to wrap your head around lore; we do not have a full DnD/table top styled stat system. We like all sorts of anime troupes and styles, Shonen and action being some of my personal favorites, we also have adventure, we have light mystery, you can play up anime archetypes and Deres. 

There's lots of stuff on the island outside of the school too and as always open plotting/private plotting is always a welcome plus. 


We plan on having events once we get more active members, we'll have events like;


+Seasonal festivals - Stuff like you'd see in most anime with like food stalls and carnival games and things like that.
+Inter school tournaments - which are going to be styled more like real world martial arts tournaments with like choreography competitions and displays of powers, just stuff that even includes people who aren't entirely strong in or want anything to do with combat based role play.  
+Potentially cross over events with other interested forums  - Gotta figure out how to work this one out and stuff as well as get interested parties of course.

Our community is open and honest, the most judgement you'll get is jokingly dependent on your favorite animes and food, not roleplay ability or post length. Keep in mind though a mostly all of our community is lax with activity and stuff because a lot of them have to do that stupid adulting thing, and we suffer from burnout a lot of the time because of it, so while some of us are capable of rapid fire posts a lot of us are on a bit of the slower end.

I don't have the time to dedicate for running this but; would love a final fantasy panfandom with all the characters. Like dissidia final fantasy.

BUT there's a major, hard core twist. It's wreck-it ralph inspired. In other words the characters all know they're playing a role in a video game and in their "world" outside of their games they can all live and interact with people outside of their typical 'jobs/roles'

Okay so... I know one thing in your would rather nots might kill my offer for you, but I'll explain and you decide from there? Let's start with your rather nots since I have to clear up a thing for our site that I'm offering up first.

No stats, really the closest you'll get is our tier systems for powers and that's more IC than OOC, think of it more like a thing on a character's ID like this.

- word counts

I hate word counts, I don't enforce word counts, I've always thought them and minimums were dumb so no worries there.

- considering this is an OC, no panfans please!

Yup, no worries there we're original.

In this house we stan anime FC's (okay not to that extreme but you get it)

- i don't think heavy school settings would work?

So this is the one I really need to touch on. Because we advertise the site as an Animanga powered School RP, we do, honestly I got nothing that sounds nearly as decent or digestible. And really some of the main draw is for the school whether you play a teacher or just a staff member. But we also have a lot more in the setting, because the setting isn't just the school, it's the island the school is on, the two major cities that surround the school and the little towns and stuff around it too.

You can play more than just teacher/student, You can play an everyday citizen of the island or someone who moved there, you could play one of the members of the mercenary forces on the island, or one of the force's leaders. The point I'm trying to get at is that while yes, we advertise with the school portion of the site forwards, we're open for a lot more than that. Especially if it's like crazy-anime-land-ness type stuff. God we love that.



+ I'm not too stubborn on the general premise! If it has fantasy or fandom related lore, i don't mind as long as it isn't too complicated/newbie friendly and there's a place for me to write my slice of life shenanigans & drama

So the whole premise, and I'm gonna try and simplify it as best I can; [in a very loose, kind of inaccurate in terms of dates, timeline]
*2014 it became known that powers and magic exist when a shadow war that had been going on between magic users and psychic ability users spilled out into the open.
*2014-2017 the war went public and got everyone involved for three years; until it was put to an end conclusively
*2017-2019 efforts were made, peace was fully achieved, schools for powered people across the globe opened up, most notably the school on our site
*2019-2021 cities and towns developed around the school, booming because of innovation and stuff brought on my powered individuals
*2023 island has been around for a bit and is a popular place to live with people moving there and visiting whether for the school or just because.

There's more to everything and I can't go too far down that rabbit hole without making an entire book instead of answering a looking for rp post lol, but there's also tons of stuff to figure out and uncover in RP. There's also plenty of space for your slice of life shenanigans and drama and we more than welcome it.

+ to add to above, I totally don't mind non-SOL drama plots either! Just don't make me turn him into a serial killer ajdjsk

I mean unless you wanna? lol, but no in terms of drama there's lots of things you could potentially get your character wrapped up in or "accidentally" your way into. We also have people who love to plot and people who wanna just take ya hand and run across the hills and things with ya if you want to just dive head first.

le gasp! An business owner? On an island full of people who are probably at the school and need to go somewhere for their caffeine dependency? Honestly I do love the idea of people making citizens who own businesses on the island and opening boards for them as actual in game locations so hell yeah les go bruh.

Something that wasn't touched on that needs pointing out is that we're fairly new, like we opened a few weeks ago, so in terms of adoptions for site "cannon characters" we don't really have anything (we're substituting it with open roles anyways really) but I don't think that's going to be too much of an issue since you're mostly looking for a place to call home with your OC.

In terms of some of your requirements: 


slice of life ✓(ish) / modern setting ✓

Our setting is our world, but in 2014 abilities and powers have always been a thing since before the dawn of the first epic tale of a character doing incredible feats. (Like Gilgamesh, or or beowulf, or any myth or legend back in the day.) It's just that for the longest it was all kept secret until a shadow war spilled out of of the shadows about ten years ago.

easy to digest, simple lore ✓

Our lore is simple; secret war between two kinds of ability users happened, it became not a secret anymore, lasted for three years before it was stopped, as a means of making peace and trying to not have more wars break out schools for people with abilities were formed. It's been ten years since then. Everyone's pretty much used to powers and magic just being a thing in their everyday lives now. There's a few other things we've put in or left out with strings around to pull on but that's for you to decide whether or not you want your characters to dive down that rabbit hole in role play or not.

Supportive and understanding staff ✓ 

I'm dumb and I'm slow to catch on to things so bet your ass I'm gonna be patient and as helpful as possible.

Original setting ✓ 

I'm mean, we're as original as you can get considering we're the equivalent of an animanga super powered school RP? Granted we're not just the school, there's stuff outside of the school, towns/cities, forces at work around the school and around the world. Mercenary groups (wait whaaaat? Yup, find out in RP), we also love anime tropes at least I do and so do a few of the other admins so we have weird shit that'd you'd only see in an anime like a necromancer's skeleton construct having his own personality and doing things while dressed hella 70's disco esthetic, WITH AN AFRO and we got a member spit balling how to make the ring yokai a ghost that haunts the school as a goth anime yandere girl. Yes, you read both of those correctly.


I think the only thing I would say isn't technically original, and is technically adapted from a fandom is our power system and even then I had to spend so many days simplifying things and balancing it and just generally nixing all the complicated things about it and then make it work for the site. (Index/railgun/accelerator series btw, do not suggest. My god I had to take a full week to recover from that whole convoluted and complicated mess.)

We're Jcink, we like the features there, skins and stuff are better optimized, speaking of the skin is nice, was a purchased skin from Timeplapse over on tumblr. We liked the toggleable light/dark and we especially loved the fact that the skin was in fact mobile friendly.

Original characters ✓

Yup, that's really all we have. However I will say that if someone can actually manage to take a character from a random anime fandom and rebuild them to fit into our lore and setting well then; more power to them? As long as the face claim isn't already taken that is lol.

Yup, got that, we like to joke, we like to chat, we also like to pick on each other sometimes too but only playfully (If that's not something you're cool with just let the peeps know) We also don't judge people, not on their rp not on their gender identity, sexuality, nada. The only thing you might be playfully judged on is your taste in anime and food choices. 

Big discords ✗

Currently on our discord group we have -goes to count because he forgot- 12 people, of those 12 only like the most active chatters are myself, our main admin, and like three or four others but there's lulls in conversations where nothing is said and there's people that just pop in occasionally to say hi or hang out. Point I'm trying to make is we actually have the opposite of a bustling discord filled to the brim with so many people saying so much stuff you can't think because of all the pings.


stat based, stat focused roleplays. ✗

The closest thing you get to that is our tier system for powers and our point system. Which is used to upgrade tiers, for right now, other things will be added. Promise. Even then the tiers are there to represent your character's skill / knowledge / experience with the powers they have at a glance than a hard fast; "hey this person is stronger than this person" type of thing.

unoptional/mandatory combat. ✗

We don't force people into anything, including fights, I mean heck if you want no one is going to complain about you making a character who specifically runs away from fights you won't be forced into anything on the boards unless you wanna be.

no panfandom. ✗

Last one I was on in 2011 left a bad taste in my mouth and I've never been back to that style of site nor made one since. This isn't one of those.

Literally used my irl highschool nickname that I got because I'd always sneak of out school next door during lunch, by a wendy's frosty, and then come back and eat it at school. Then I don't remember how I got the numbers, They've just stuck around since the beginning (2005)

If you interested, we just opened a site called Shadows of Our Youth, yup, we are aware our initials are soy. We did that intentionally. We tried to make ADHD work but just couldn't manage it. We're an animanga high school site that based around the premise of powered people and students, both magic and psychic powers. Think like, a simplified form of the index/railgun series. We've got a story in the works for people to participate in but we're very much about player driven RP and lore discovery through rp. I have links for both the site and the discord. 

We're currently open for RP. We're a Jcink site too if that helps. We're also not slice of life in your typical way, I'd elaborate more on that but then that would ruin the fun surprises we have in store for the site once it gets rolling.

This whole trend of eye-stabbing light skins kills me because "yes, I would love to rp on your site with the interesting premise. No, I'm not going to murder my eyes and through default my friggin brain because your site with it's super bright color choices are giving me eyestrain like a mofo." Which is why I fraking love this new toggle-able shit for both dark/light and big/small text. It makes the hobby so much more enjoyable again to be able to see things lol.
